Each day’s game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before your NYT Connections hints today, here’s what you missed on Sunday:
Hey there, Connectors! I hope you had a fabulous weekend. I’m very happy to be back with you for another Monday-Friday run of this column, and I’m still riding high on the delirium of Scotland qualifying for the World Cup (I am going to be insufferable about that for some time to come, sorry!).
As you may know by now – or if you’re a newcomer here, welcome! – I like to kick the Monday editions of this column off with a fun, upbeat song. I would just love to help you shake off any cobwebs, put a smile on your face and maybe have a little boogie.
There really aren’t many happier songs than this:
Before we start, I want to mention the great community we have on Discord, where we chat about Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. It’s a lovely, welcoming group of folks. I like to call it our cozy little corner of the internet. You’re more than welcome to join us. Don’t be shy!
Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Monday, November 24 are coming right up. Let’s get rolling!
NYT Connections – How To Play
Connections is a free New York Times daily word game that you can play on the NYT’s website or Games app. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the Connections archive, which includes every previous game.
Connections presents you with a grid of 16 words (sometimes phrases, symbols or numbers). The aim is to arrange them into four groups of four. You don’t know how they hit together or what the category for each group is: that’s what you have to figure out.
There’s only one correct solution and there are often red herrings. You can guess incorrectly three times. A fourth wrong guess, and it’s game over.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to deduce, followed by blue, green and purple. Often, the yellow and green groups have synonyms, the blues have cultural references and the purples have some kind of wordplay involved. But this is not a hard and fast rule. Be ready for curveballs – part of the fun of Connections is in how the NYT shakes things up to keep you on your toes.
As with Wordle and similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends using an emoji-based grid. The game tracks your progress too.
Many players take pride in having long win streaks or getting a reverse rainbow – correctly guessing the purple, blue, green and yellow groups in that order with no mistakes. That adds an extra little challenge.

NYT Connections Answers
Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.
This is your last chance to look away.
This is your final warning!
Today’s Connections answers are…
- 🟨 Yellow group — small kitchen appliances (BLENDER, MICROWAVE, RICE COOKER, TOASTER)
- 🟩 Green group — features of a car’s center console (AIR CONDITIONER, CUP HOLDER, RADIO, SHIFTER)
- 🟦 Blue group — seen while going through airport security (BIN, CARRY-ON, METAL DETECTOR, X-RAY)
- 🟪 Purple group — ending in colors (INFRARED, MARIGOLD, STINGRAY, ULTRAVIOLET)
A bit of a chin scratcher today, especially with so many words related to electromagnetic radiation: INFRARED, MICROWAVE, X-RAY, RADIO and ULTRAVIOLET. MICROWAVE seemed like the odd one out there to go with the kitchen appliances, and that took care of the yellows.
But a guess of INFRARED, X-RAY, RADIO and ULTRAVIOLET was off the mark. I wasn’t one away from a group, so I got caught by the trap.
At least it didn’t take me long to spot the purples after that. MARIGOLD felt very out of place, and that was my entry point into that group.
The words refer to red (INFRARED), gold (MARIGOLD), gray (STINGRAY) and violet (ULTRAVIOLET). “Gray” is spelled “grey” in many locales, and I always get them mixed up!
The last two groups were pretty straightforward for me. CARRY-ON and X-RAY made the airport security features easy to find for the blues, and the greens were, of course, car parts. Many people will know the SHIFTER as the gear stick.
No perfect game this time, but my winning streak is up to 268 consecutive victories in this fun game. How did you get on today?
Here’s my grid:

There’s no Answers Explained column today, folks. I’ve already explained everything that needed to be spelled out. So I’ve left myself with no #content for a secondary column this time.
That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Tuesday’s game if you need them.
P.S. To mark my decision not to see Paul McCartney live last week (a decision for which my credit card is thankful), here’s one of my favorite Beatles tracks. It’s one that McCartney wrote and performed himself. “Blackbird” is such a gorgeous song:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!
