New Leak Is Bad News For U.S. Buyers

Samsung revealed an all-new super-thin phone was on its way at the end of its big Galaxy Unpacked event in January. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was on show (though you couldn’t actually touch it). It’s raised a lot of excitement, but the latest news is not good: its release may be limited at first.
The slim Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
That’s according to a comment on Weibo from leaker Ice Universe, picked up on X by tech journalist Max Jambor. “According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S25 Edge will be available for sale in late May,” he says. So far, so good. But then the bad news: “The first countries to be able to buy the product are South Korea and China,” he goes on.
This is not only annoying for those wanting to get their hands on the thin new phone as soon as possible, it’s also a surprise. It’s hard to believe this was in the road map, as Samsung would have been unlikely to reveal the phone at an event in California if it hadn’t planned to release it worldwide.
And the European pricing has already leaked, which also suggests that it was expected to land there early on.
Right now, it’s easy to blame the uncertainty caused by tariffs for changes, but that also shouldn’t affect a European launch, even if U.S. sales are delayed by it.
While this news doesn’t mean the S25 Edge won’t be released in more countries, and it’s possible the delay between South Korea and China launches and other countries could be short, it’s not welcome.
There had been reports of a technical issue which had delayed the release from April to May, and if that’s correct, a limited release seems to make sense if fixing the issue has impacted the supply chain.
More as we have it.
