Get $524 For Your Google Pixel 6a Before It’s Too Late

The Pixel 6 Pro also receives a big valuation in Google’s new trade-in deal.
Google’s sudden and unexpected trade-in price increase is a good opportunity to swap your defective Pixel 6a for $524. A price you will not get for it anywhere else.
For the uninitiated, Google is rolling out a mandatory update on July 8th that will throttle the battery of the Pixel 6a. This is in response to reports of overheating phones that surfaced earlier this year. A similar problem hit the Pixel 4a, with the update ultimately limiting the phone’s battery life to a couple of hours.
Google says that the Pixel 6a will have reduced battery capacity once it hits 400 charge cycles, or if the device is identified as one affected by the problem. The Search company will replace your battery for free depending on where you live. A better option, however, is to take advantage of the best trade-in deal I have seen this year.
Last week ,Google U.K. launched a new promotion that raises trade-in prices, which means a large payout for essentially defunct phones. Prices range from a maximum of £675 ($920.50) when buying the base Pixel 9, £820 ($1118.24) Pixel 9 Pro / XL shoppers and £1,045 ($1425.07) for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Google says this includes a bonus of between £200 ($272.58) and £400 ($545.16) on top of its regular trade-in valuations.
Google Will Pay More For Your Old Phone
For your Pixel 6a, the company will pay £384 ($523.78). Unless you scam someone on eBay and send them your broken Pixel 6a in place of an iPhone 14 (don’t do this), you will not get anything close to that for a Pixel 6a. If you’re not put off by Google’s battery shenanigans then this is a solid deal that I haven’t seen before from the company, or any other manufacturer.
It’s not just the Pixel 6a. Other out-of-fashion phones are valued highly in Google’s sale.
- Google Pixel 7 Pro – £454 ($618.75)
- Google Pixel 6 Pro – £415 ($565.60)
- Google Pixel 5 – £377 ($513.81)
- Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max – £657 ($895.42)
- Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max – £447 ($609.21)
- Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – £517 ($704.62)
- Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus – £373 ($508.36)
The sale ends on July 8th, coincidentally (or not?) the same day that Google rolls out the battery throttling update. Don’t feel pressured, though, because considering the depth and consistency of promotional sales from Google, Samsung and Amazon, there will be more on the way.
