Following the news that we have an all-new Katamari game on the way, it has also received a suitably bonkers music video for one of its songs.

Once Upon A Katamari is the first new Katamari game in a long time, and from the announcement trailer, it definitely looks promising. With the premise that you will also travel through time, hence the giant ball of dinosaurs (shown above).

I’ve also had a long history with these games, having imported the original Katamari Damashii on the PlayStation 2 back when it was originally released in 2004.

Yes, “damashii”, as that’s the correct way to write the name. I have no idea where the monstrosity that is “damacy” was birthed, especially as the original Japanese box art clearly has “Katamari Damashii” written in katana on the cover.

The whole point of the name is that it’s about embodying the “spirit” of the “lump”, and mistranslating the spirit part kind of ruins that.

Pedantic spelling aside, I am genuinely happy to see a new Katamari game and one that looks as mad as its glorious progenitors.

In addition, one of the other major aspects of the Katamari games has been their very inventive musical collaborations over the years, and this new instalment is no different.

Hence, this new music video (shown below) from Kocchi no Kento, entitled Eeja Eeja naika.

In any case, mad music video aside, we have a new Katamari game to look forward to, and that makes me genuinely happy.

Once Upon A Katamari will be released on October 24 for Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, via Steam.
