Surprising News About ‘Wednesday’ Season 3’s Release Date

We are now halfway through Wednesday season 2, which has been broken in half due to Netflix’s new philosophy of doing this with its biggest shows, most of the time. Part 2 of season 2 of Wednesday will arrive on September 3, 2025, but after that? Viewers will be wondering when the already-greenlit season 3 will be out.
The gap between Wednesday seasons 1 and 2 is arguably the single most-cited example of the utterly absurd wait between seasons of streaming shows. It took two years and nine months to get another eight episodes out. Now, fans are wondering if it’s going to take that long to see season 3.
Well, it appears that will not be the case, mercifully.
While not quite filming during the airing of season 2, Wednesday season 3 will begin shooting very, very soon after. We’ve heard that production will begin for Wednesday season 3 in November 2025, just two months after season 2 ends.
So, another two years nine months, right? No. The main part of the delay of Wednesday season 2 was the long, long time it took for it to start shooting:
- Season 1 of Wednesday was released in November 2022.
- Season 2 of the show did not start shooting until May 2024, a gap of a year and six months.
- Production took on year and three months after filming began.
- Now, the gap is only two months between the end of Wednesday season 2 and season 3 filming. That means a year and three months after November 2025 is February 2027.
So, in the end, if all these schedules stay the same the gap between seasons 2 and 3 of Wednesday should be around one year and six months. That’s over a year less than the gap between seasons 1 and 2.
It’s almost certain that Netflix will want to continue Wednesday as long as it can, given that it’s the most-watched ongoing show the service will have now that Squid Game is over and Stranger Things is about to be. If it can slim down to 1.5 years between seasons instead of the nearly three year wait from before, that will likely draw in even more audiences who have not drifted off over time and completely lost the plot. Literally.
So, this is good news, and surprising that Netflix has finally had the foresight to start filming Wednesday right after the current season ends rather than waiting an absurd amount of time to get movie. Hopefully these estimated schedules pan out.
