‘Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles’ is released on September 30.

Back when the original Final Fantasy Tactics was released in 1997, it was accompanied by a CG opening movie. Something The Ivalice Chronicles has now updated.
If you’re curious, you should probably check out the original opening movie, as the new one (shown below) has kept pretty close to its overall structure.
The main difference is that instead of late 90s CG, we are graced with modern 2D art rendered in a 3D way, retaining much of the iconic and adorable character designs.
The new movie also uses the same music, which again is a nice touch.
As for the game itself, it’s looking very good indeed, at least from the new gameplay footage that was released pretty recently.
Considering the Ogre Battle origins of Final Fantasy Tactics, it’s nice that this game in particular is getting a modern upgrade.
Not least because it means more people can find out how great a game this is, as it’s been a while since it was widely available.
For me, it’s obviously nostalgic to see Final Fantasy Tactics back again, as I played it back when it came Westward in 1998, so it’s been nearly three decades since I played it last.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is released on September 30 for Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
