In what may be Fortnite’s most quickly thrown-together collaboration in game history, the first look at its imminent KPop Demon Hunters skins is…quite good, actually.
A new render of Zoey, one of the three members of HUNTR/X, the girl group in KPop Demon Hunters, has leaked, though maybe more will have by the time you read this. For now, here’s Zoey:
That’s really good! I mean they did a little Fortnite-ification of the eyes there, but it’s a really solid skin for something that was no doubt put together in a few months at best, when many of these collabs take much longer. I really do wonder when the switch was flipped on this, as KPop Demon Hunters was released in late June. At what point did Fortnite realize it was such a rocketship phenomenon that it should rush out a skin? July? August? It’s still September, and we should see these skins out by Halloween. That’s wild.
Leakers say this is a larger scale collaboration, not just the three members of HUNTR/X, (sorry, no time for Saja Boys), which likes means emotes and probably Fortnite Festival stuff. I wouldn’t imagine something like an on-map performance can be put together this quickly, as much as that would rule.
KPop Demon Hunters has destroyed every record on Netflix, becoming its most-watched original movie ever by a wide margin. It is still setting music records daily on various charts, beating out all other KPop groups even as a “fictional” offering (of course, there are very real singers behind the girls, and Zoey actress Rei Ami is celebrating her Fortnite skin already). KPop Demon Hunters is also a frontrunner for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the Oscars this year, without question.

It is likely that Rumi and Mira will leak soon, and I would expect them to look as good as Zoey, or Fortnite will officially announce all this. One difference with those two will be their long hair, particularly Rumi’s now iconic braid. But Fortnite had hair tech for its skins down years ago.
It stands to reason this is going to be a hugely popular collab, as I have to imagine that KPop Demon Hunters fans and a good amount of Fortnite players are going to overlap. I mean, I love the movie too, I will probably hop on and buy the bundle. It is a little hard to imagine getting just one, but I’m sure a number of people may do that instead of opting for the higher price. We’ll either see more leaks or an official reveal soon.
