Astell&Kern Announces Its New High-End Luna Earphones For Audiophile Listening
The Astell&Kern high-end Luna IEMs are designed for high-end listening.
Astell&Kern, the high-resolution audio maker of digital audio players and accessories, has announced today that it is launching a new pair of IEMs featuring unique planar-magnetic drivers that should appeal to those people who won’t compromise on sound.
The new Luna IEMs are a showcase for Astell&Kern’s philosophy of bringing together precision audio innovation with sophisticated and beautiful designs. Luna is the third IEMs from Astell&Kern and join the AK ZERO1 and AK ZERO 2.
Handcrafted in Japan, the Luna IEMs have a single-driver design using planar-magnetic technology that is encased in a smooth titanium housing made with both durability and wearability in mind.
The Luna IEMs have an elegant exterior that Astell&Kern says is inspired by the curves of the moon. Not only are these IEMs crafted for comfort, but they are also engineered to deliver an optimized acoustic flow from the newly developed Katabiki driver.

Co-developed with Madoo, the Katabiki drivers have a unique, unipolar magnetic circuit, that uses a powerful single magnet and dual ring-shape yoke for optimum control. The diaphragm housing is made from CNC-machined aluminum, while an ultra-thin and lightweight film with a printed aluminum pattern reduces the diaphragm’s weight.
According to Astell&Kern, these special design elements enable the Katabiki drivers to deliver “outstanding response speed, exceptional resolution and natural resonance characteristics” which can faithfully reproduce the delicate nuances of music.
To maximize the driver’s performance, Luna has a silver-coated OCC and copper OCC cable that’s engineered using a blend of high-purity silver plating and copper. The precise combination reproduces highly detailed and accurate sound. The two-pin 4mm connectors are finished with aluminum, adding a sense of refinement and premium quality to the overall design.
In typical Astell&Kern style, the Luna IEMs are packaged with an array of accessories, including seven different ear tip options and a carry case.
