Bungie, You Need To Pull The ‘Destiny 2’ Emergency Lever This Minute

Destiny Rising is one thing, but the launch of Borderlands 4 today marks the second big body blow to Destiny 2, a game that just issued one of its worst additions in recent memory with the Ash and Iron “Major Update,” which is anything but major.
Everything is bad or broken. Power gains are bugged to be too low for a new power grind that no one wants to do anyway. The new Reclaim activity is lame and the new loot is hard to come by.
Certain things cannot be fixed at this point, that much is clear. The Portal is not going anywhere as the entire game has been restructured around it to the point where ripping it out is like tearing out someone’s spine and expecting them to continue to walk around. So fine, work with what we have for now.
Pull the emergency loot lever. I have been screaming about generosity for ages in Destiny 2 but at this point, I’m serious. It’s time. Things are legitimately collapsing in a way I haven’t seen before. My suggestions:
- Double all Portal loot. I don’t care how extreme that sounds. Do it. And make sure it’s weighted toward the new stuff. (Do not just put it in Reclaim because Reclaim is so bad people don’t want to play at all).
- Don’t just fix power drops, increase them. Currently they’re mostly one less power than they should be. Don’t put it back to normal. Increase it to one more than it was going to be before if you must leave this new climb in place.
- Make all positive modifiers in the Portal free so you actually want to use them, rather than be penalized for them.
- Cut the +10/+20 enemy power gains from negative modifiers in half to +5/+10 so people aren’t showing up to try and farm 30 to 50+ under power.
- Maybe don’t auto increase every Tier drop, but drastically increase the rate of Primes past whatever it is now for now just power gains, but actually good higher tier drops.
- Double raid loot. Double whatever dungeon loot there’s going to be.
- Take at least two of the five Eververse armor sets this season and make them earnable somewhere, especially the Taken one. Unhappy, actively quitting players do not buy Eververse armor.
I’m telling you, it’s time to pull out every stop. We are DEFCON 1 here in terms of what this update has done to community sentiment. I don’t even think I’m being hyperbolic when sure, I am hyperbolic a lot. You gotta just rain loot and power man. It’s time.
