Judging by the official website’s ‘notify me when available’ button, Corsair’s initial shipment of its brand new $250 micro-display peripheral has already sold out. A second shipment is coming, but in the meantime, you can read the company’s official statement below:

Healthy interest seems to prove that PC enthusiasts are in desperate need of an additional (and much smaller) utilitarian screen for their gaming and productivity needs. Essentially, Corsair’s Xeneon Edge allows you to view stats and tidbits on a tidy view-station, anything from real-time system monitoring to music playlists to YouTube videos to the weather—really any productivity or cosmetic augmentation you see fit.

The 14.5″, 2560×720 resolution, 60Hz LCD touch-panel is handily magnetic, so it can be attached to the front of a metal computer chassis, or it can be mounted to your desk via an external arm, or even installed inside your PC case alongside other components.

Versatility is the name of the game here, and the Xeneon Edge basically acts as another tiny monitor and attaches to your setup via HDMI or USB-C DP-Alt, or even directly to your computer’s motherboard.

IGN gave it a 7 via a recent review, and here’s the general summation:

“Corsair is onto something with Xeneon Edge. The fact that it feels integral after such a short time is a testament to its design, and I love how versatile its mounting solutions are. I see huge potential here. At launch, however, it feels like it would have benefitted from more time in development, unifying the desktop and iCUE widgets more, and offering more widgets in general. If you don’t mind that setup process and are a little tech-savvy to make the most of its potential, I can easily recommend it. But if some early rough edges rub you the wrong way, waiting a few months may be the better bet. Either way, this is a product to watch and, at least for me, was worth the wait.”

Some might consider a niche product like this rather superfluous, and I can understand such an argument, but personally, I do see real value in a sleek touchscreen HUD for my PC setup, one that essentially acts as an evolved Stream Deck.

At $250, it’s quite expensive for what amounts to a luxury ornament (if a useful one) for content creators and streamers. Still, I’m honestly intrigued. Hopefully I can get my hands on a review sample soon to gauge the value proposition for myself. Given the challenging stock situation, I might have to wait a bit.
