Navarrete is one of the more underrated champions in the sport.

While he has something of a cult following because of his hard-charging, power-punching style, he doesn’t get mentioned on many pound-for-pound lists, and you rarely hear him in conversations as a potential opponent for guys like Gervonta Davis, Keyshawn Davis, and others in his weight class like O’Shaquie Foster or Raymond Ford.

Perhaps a win on Saturday night sets up an intriguing unification fight between Navarrete and Foster. However, Suarez will obviously have something to say about that.

The Filipino veteran has an impressive amateur boxing pedigree, and his undefeated run as a pro has validated his skill. He’ll be attempting to upset Navarrete in front of what will certainly be a crowd cheering on the champion.

The co-main event is a big one with major world-title implications. While Muratalla and Abdulalev are battling for a vacant interim title, the winner will be the No. 1 contender for Vasyl Lomachenko’s title.

With the Ukrainian legend inactive and his future in the sport uncertain, it’s feasible the winner of Saturday’s co-main event could be elevated to full champion sometime down the line.

In any case, it’s an excellent opportunity for both fighters.
