EnGenius AI Surveillance Camera Has Built-In Facial And License Plate Recognition

Once upon a time, facial recognition and automatic license plate recognition were the preserve of big government and intelligence agencies. Bow advances in AI and mass production techniques are making surveillance equipment available to a much wider range of users.

Networking brand EnGenius has announced the development of its ECC500 AI Surveillance Camera. This 8-megapixel camera has been designed for enterprise-class scalability with high-performance recognition and next-generation AI intelligence.

The ECC500 is for organizations needing faster, smarter and more flexible security in complex environments. Equipped with on-device and Cloud AI, the ECC500 uses transformer-based, deep-learning models taht go beyond traditional vision analytics. The camera can read faces, license plates and other objects with accuracy and context awareness, even in difficult conditions.

EnGenius claims the high-performance edge inference of its new security camera delivers real-time recognition without the need to access external servers. The camera’s cloud-native design means a system can be scaled seamlessly.

Face Tracking

With the ECC500 integrated into the EnGenius Surveillance Cloud, organizations can access powerful face-tracking capabilities. The system has a cloud timeline function that enables security teams to track exactly when and where a person appeared. This can be correlated with appearances across multiple cameras and locations.

Using intelligence from the camera, it’s possible to build a chronological path of movement for investigation or auditing purposes. The feature can be used to streamline complex investigations and eliminate guesswork in quickly tracking and verifying activities with certainty.

License-plate recognition is built into the ECC500 and can be used for smarter traffic enforcement. EnGenius says that the ECC500’s LPR capability can transform the way governments and municipalities manage urban safety.

By capturing and recognizing license plate data in real-time, the ECC500 can be used for automated enforcement of traffic violations, such as speeding, illegal parking or monitoring vehicles accessing restricted zones. Traffic flow can also be monitored using automated data collection.

The new technology can also be used to improve public safety by accurately identifying suspect or unauthorized vehicles. The ECC500 is specifically designed to aid law-enforcement agencies and city planners in establishing scalable and cloud-managed solutions for smarter traffic governance and improved road safety.

Cloud-Powered Scalability

Using the EnGenius Surveillance Cloud, organizations can also monitor the camera feed to look for faces or license plates across an entire network. The camera feed can be viewed remotely with the video streams available anytime and anywhere. The system can be used in small to enterprise-wide networks using centralized cloud management and elastic performance

“ECC500 is built for a new era of intelligent surveillance,” claims Roger Liu, executive vice president at EnGenius Technologies. “With transformer-level AI processing, timeline-based face tracking, and real-time LPR, our customers gain faster insights, stronger enforcement, and the ability to scale security like never before.”

Pricing and Availability:

The EnGenius ECC500 AI Surveillance Camera will be available before the end of the year via EnGenius authorized partners. No price has been released yet, but with all those speeding and parking tickets rolling in, it will pay for itself in no time.
