England Euro 2025 squad live blog Lionesses to name 23-player group

England manager Sarina Wiegman will shortly be announcing her 23-player squad for this summer’s European Championship in Switzerland.
As the reigning European champions, the Lionesses go into the tournament as one of the favourites, but the lead-up to the squad announcement has been tumultuous for Wiegman. Last week, goalkeeper Mary Earps announced her shock retirement from international football, and she was followed into the sunset by Fran Kirby earlier this week. On Wednesday, Chelsea captain Millie Bright ruled herself out of selection due to mental and physical exhaustion.
The trio were integral members of the 2022 triumph on home soil and in their absence, a younger squad will look to defend their crown in Switzerland.
