Eversolo’s New T8 Professional-Grade Streaming Transport Is Aimed At Serious Audiophiles

As an innovator in the audio market, Eversolo has followed a philosophy of “faithfully reproducing pure sound.” That’s what hi-fi is all about. Chasing down the best possible reproduction of music so that it sounds as close to how the musician and producer of the recording intended.

Eversolo has been making strides in its ambition to offer a streamer with an innovative architecture. From the widely acclaimed DMP-A6 to the brand’s flagship DMP-A10, Eversolo has gained recognition for its attention to achieving precision in technology and sound. At this year’s Munich High-End Show, Eversolo revealed four new products, among them was a professional-grade streaming transport — the Eversolo T8 — and now the device is widely available.

High-End Streaming

The Eversolo T8 is the streaming equivalent of a high-end SACD player or a turntable like the Linn Sondek LP12, except for streaming using high-end services like Qobuz, Tidal or even WAV files on a home server. It doesn’t contain a DAC for turning the music into analog waveforms, but it does the important preparation. The digital ouput of the T8 can be plugged into an external DAC or an amplifier that has a built-in DAC such as the Cambridge Audio CXA81.

Eversolo’s intention in developing the T8 was to produce a streamer that produces clean and precise digital audio reproduction ready for conversion to analog. The T8 has fully isolated outputs and a proprietary software ecosystem all set up to deliver purity of sound and versatility in use.

“Eversolo T8 represents our unwavering commitment to pure sound. Every detail — from the femtosecond clock to evotune room correction — has been engineered to ensure that music lovers experience every nuance exactly as the artist intended,” claims Spring Meng, CTO at Eversolo.

Designed To Shield

The T8 is housed in a CNC-machined aluminum chassis, which provides both strength and a dash of elegance. However, more importantly, it’s designed to shield the T8’s internals from electromagnetic interference, which can be as big a problem as physical vibrations on a vinyl turntable.

The front panel of the T8 has a shielding design that physically isolates it from the internal circuitry for clean and unsullied sound transmission. On the front, there’s a colorful 6-inch touchscreen as well as full-function button controls so the user can play music easily. The user interface has been fully upgraded so that it responds more quickly than the previous generation and has a more natural way of interacting with the streamed music.

The heart of any digital audio system is, arguably, the clock. This is the conductor of the digital orchestra and is responsible for coordinating the timing of every audio sample. Any slip or introduction of excessive jitter will blur the sound and result in less detail.

Femtosecond Clock

Rebuilding digital signals into signals ready to be converted into analog wave forms is what the T8 is all about. The player incorporates an ultra-high precision femtosecond clock system with new levels of controlling timing with supreme accuracy for a more focused sound, better imaging, while maintaining both detail and dynamics.

A silent linear power supply powers the T8 and is specifically designed to reduce noise to levels as low as 30μV. The custom-designed toroidal transformer is wound with 4N oxygen-free copper for a smooth signal transmission. Teflon-insulated primary and secondary connections ensure resistance to high temperatures and have better anti-interference shielding, which should translate into an ultra-quiet music background.

Supporting up to eight IIS output modes, the T8 is compatible with a wide range of DAC brands and models, enabling plug-and-play operation. Its isolated design blocks power noise and ground loop interference from upstream devices so that only clean and pure audio signals get through.

Managing Signals

Eversolo says that when connecting an external DAC to the T8 using USB, power noise and ground potential differences can affect the signal, especially if they aren’t properly managed. The T8’s professional USB Audio isolated output creates a protective barrier that splits the power from the audio to transmit clean signals for a more natural sound.

In professional audio environments, such as studios and monitoring setups, long-distance digital signal transmission can pick up ground loop currents and electromagnetic interference. The result can be noise and jitter that impact sound quality. The T8 has a studio-grade AES/EBU isolated output for interference resistance and stable signals. Its electrical isolation design stops noise and jitter, making it possible to transmit signals over longer distances without a drop in quality.

The T8 supports coaxial digital outputs up to 24-bit/192kHz, which should block interference and provide a more accurate signal delivery. With broad compatibility across DACs and high-end Hi-Fi systems, coaxial transmission is an easy and reliable output method chosen by many audiophiles.

Equipped with an SFP network communication module and an RJ45 gigabit port, the T8 can deliver stable and high-speed audio transmission. The SFP module has electrical isolation to shield against electromagnetic interference.

Onboard Storage

There are dual SSD slots inside the T8, which support up to 16TB of digital storage (across a maximum of two 8TB units), enabling gapless playback of large, high-resolution audio files and management of extensive music collections. FLAC and WAV files gobble up a lot of space and the provision of onboard SSDs cuts the need for a NAS.

Other features built into the Eversolo T8 include Wi-Fi 6 wireless networking and a high-performance quad-core ARM processor. There is 4GB of DDR onboard RAM with 64GB eMMC storage for multitasking and data management.

The T8 integrates all the mainstream music services like TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, TuneIn Radio and others, supporting a choice of hi-res streaming sources. There’s also support for TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and it’s also Roon Ready, enabling a smooth music experience.

Most hi-res digital file formats are supported by the Eversolo T8, including DSD, PCM, FLAC, APE and WAV. DSD formats are supported up to DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit. The T8 can be combined with an external DAC, which should ensure the streamer’s longevity thanks to the ability to upgradable the DAC.

As any audiophile knows, nothing spoils a great sound system like a room with poor acoustics. A room and its furnishings can have a major impact on sound. Just remember how your living room sounded before you moved your furniture in and put down some flooring. Reflections and standing waves can make the best-recorded audio sound weird.

Room Tuning

To address this, the T8 has professional-grade room correction using Eversolo’s evotune system. By using advanced FIR algorithms, evotune analyzes a room’s acoustics and then optimizes system output. Room correction can be carried out with the Eversolo EM-01 microphone or a smartphone microphone. Evotune aims to make high-quality sound accessible to all music lovers, no matter what room they are in.

Sound is a very personal matter and we all have preferences when it comes to bass, treble and mids. The T8 has a 10-band PEQ module, FIR filter import and loudness adjustment so users can tweak the audio for their ideal sonic signature.

There are plenty of other features built into the T8 that are designed to make music more enjoyable. For example, Multi-dimensional music management automatically extracts and organizes metadata to keep music libraries tidy. There’s even support for various sorting and browsing options. Cross-platform playlists mean users can combine their favorite tracks from different music streaming services into one custom playlist. Finally, the T8’s gapless playback function will satisfy the inner DJ.

Eversolo Control enables the T8 to be controlled using an Android, iOS or M-series Mac. The interface is intuitive and supports real-time screen interaction. Any action performed on the T8 is immediately reflected on the controlling device. Each T8 comes with a dual-mode Bluetooth/IR remote for controlling things without a computer or smartphone.
