The new DX3000CL are dynamic and closed-back headphones with new 40mm dynamic drivers made from a composite paper-carbon material.
FINAL
High-end audio brand Final has added a new model to its DX Series of premium headphones. The DX3000CL are the latest model of headphones to join the growing DX Series and the launch follows on from the successful reception of the Final DX7000. The new DX3000CL are the first closed-back design in the range.
Developed in Japan, the DX3000CL are tuned to deliver a smooth overall sound that has a natural tonal balance underpinned by a clear midrange, an open treble and a tight-but-fulsome bass. With their smooth and natural frequency response, these headphones have a tonal balance that feels organic and very immersive. The low-end rise commences around 200Hz, delivering weight while still capturing that unmistakable Final signature warmth.
Closed Back And Dynamic Drivers
The Final DX Series was created to bring the company’s high-end acoustic design philosophy to a new range of headphones designed around dynamic drivers. With the DX3000CL, Final has created its first closed-back design with the goal of preserving the sort of sonic integrity achieved by the rest of the DX range but with new tuning and a more a slightly more compact and lightweight design.
The Final DX3000CL headphones have been tuned to deliver a smooth sound with a natural tonal balance, clear midrange, open treble and a tightly controlled bass that captures Final’s signature warmth and realism.
FINAL
At the heart of the DX3000CL are new 40mm dynamic drivers made from composite paper-carbon material . These dynamic drivers were designed to produce a fast and articulate sound while preserving the original organic texture and tone of the music. The free-edge surround is designed to reduce any unwanted resonances while enabling the diaphragm to move with a high degree of precision and plenty of control. Final says the resulting sound is pure and natural sounding.
Engineered in Japan
The DX3000CL headphones were designed by Final’s in-house team of acoustic engineers based in Japan. The headphones have a lightweight chassis coupled with luxuriously soft and oversized earpads with a carefully balanced headband that exerts gentle pressure on the wearer’s head. The overall feel of the DX3000CL is one comfort especially if listening for extended periods.
The closed-back design of the DX3000CL provides plenty of passive isolation from ambient sounds without losing a sense of openness that’s more akin to a pair of open-back headphones. This more open character makes the DX3000CL suitable for home, studio or portable use. As with all of Final’s headphones, the DX3000CL’s are carefully designed adn constructed so they don’t impede the natural behavior of the drivers. The result is a sound that’s best described as balanced and clear.

FINAL
From the composition of its paper–carbon diaphragm, to the precision of their acoustic chambers made from carbon fibers and resin, these headphones are assembled without using any adhesives and yet they feel exceptionally solid.
4.4mm and 6.35mm Terminations
The DX3000CL ship with a cable terminated with a balanced 4.4mm connector and a 6.35mm stereo adapter. There’s no 3.5mm single-ended connector, but you could buy an adapter or order a cable with a 3.5mm termination from Final or another supplier like Dekoni.
Final claims that every element of the new DX3000CL headphones has been extensively researched and subjected to many hours of subjective listening and testing. The result, says the company, is a pair of headphones that reflect all the emotion and realism of source recordings. Having heard them, I’m inclined to agree. It’s a big and bold sound that still manages to preserve neutrality and sound natural.
