Friday, November 28 (If All Else Fails)

I hope all you fine Strandistarians are good and stuffed after your big Thanksgiving feasts. It’s always something of a recovery process after the holiday dinner is over and the turkey and other fatty, carb-filled foods (not to mention pies and sugary treats and salty treats) settle in. Hopefully you’re not too zoned out to solve today’s Strands, because it’s a bit of a tricky one. Let’s take a crack at it, shall we?

How To Play Strands

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.

Spoilers ahead.

Today’s Strands Breakdown

I found FOUNTAIN right off the bat, and thought it might even be the spangram, but that was not the case. After I found COIN (to throw in the fountain) I found WISH and worked my way backwards to find MAKEAWISH. From here, STAR wasn’t too difficult, and LADYBUG was moderately difficult, but both DANDELION and EYELASH took me quite awhile to uncover. Remember, don’t tell anyone what you’re wishing for or it won’t come true!
