Android Circuit is here to remind you of a few of the many discussions around Android in the last seven days. You can also read my weekly digest of Apple news here on Forbes.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Delay

Samsung’s summer edition of Galaxy Unpacked should see the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 launch. But there’s one foldable that will significantly impact the foldables market and will arrive later… the cheaper Fan Edition of the Flip.

“According to reports from South Korea, Samsung has delayed the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE and its trifolding phone to Q4 2025. The affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE was originally expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 during Samsung’s July Unpacked event, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for this lower-cost foldable.”

Pixel 10 Design Leaks

Google’s Pixel 10 family is expected to be launched near the end of Q2, but we have one clear difference between the Pro and the Vanilla options. If you want a bright and vibrant phone, you won’t find it in the Pro models:

“Looking at the leaked wallpapers for the Pixel 10 family, there’s a clear difference in terms of vibrancy and visibility. Those earmarked for the Pixel 10 feature wider and brighter color palettes, compared to the single color shades seen on those for the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel.”

Gemini Installs On Galaxy Smartphones

Speaking in court as part of the Justice Department’s Anti-Trust case against Google, Peter Fitzgerald, Google’s vice president of platforms and device partnerships, confirmed there is a monetary arrangement between Google and Samsung to preinstall Google Gemini on Galaxy devices:

“The company began paying Samsung for Gemini in January… The contract, set to run at least two years, provides fixed monthly payments for each device that preinstalls Gemini and pays Samsung a percentage of the revenue Google earns from paid subscriptions for the app and ads”

Android 16 Beta Open To More Handsets

The fourth public beta of Android 16 is now available for those looking to test the next release, get a little look into the future, or help out with debugging. Previously restricted to Pixel modes, Google has widened the compatibility of the beta:

“Android 16 Beta is available on phones, tablets, and foldables from partners like HONOR, iQOO, Lenovo, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, vivo, Xiaomi, and more. Note that these are still unstable builds and are meant for advanced users only, and you should avoid installing them on your daily driver phones.”

Poco M7 Pro 5G UK Launch

Poco has released its latest budget-focused handsets. Coming in at £199 here in the UK, the M7 5G leans into AI and multimedia:

“Equipped with the powerful Dimensity 7025-Ultra processor, the POCO M7 5G delivers smooth 5G performance and an immersive entertainment experience. Its upgraded Sony IMX 882 sensor ensures stunning photography, while the integration of the Google Gemini app offers a more intuitive and AI-enhanced user experience, making it a perfect choice for both casual users and tech enthusiasts. “

EU Mandates Various Smartphone Ratings

In a bid to offer consumers clear information, the European Union is introducing new packaging and labelling for smartphones and tablets. These will feature battery life, efficiency, durability, repairability, and software support window:

“The regulation applies to cordless phones (used for landlines), smartphones for cellular or satellite networks, feature phones without internet or third-party apps, and tablets with screens between 7 and 17.4 inches. Only devices in these categories that are placed on the market from June 20, 2025, onward.”

And Finally…

Would you like to see all the email subscriptions you are signed up to, and have a one-touch unsubscribe button to leave them? That’s the promise of a new Gmail feature which is arriving on you smartphone soon, if it’s not already there:

“In a server-side update that we’re seeing across multiple email accounts, devices, and Gmail for Android versions today, Gmail is starting to roll out a new “Manage subscriptions” page. A notice in the app shows to inform users of the new option, with a “Manage subscriptions” button in the overflow menu.”
