Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked Product Launch Event

If you took advantage of one of the many Samsung Galaxy phone discounts this Thanksgiving, there are a handful of free services and subscriptions Samsung is offering to new Galaxy device users. The most valuable is a free Pro tier subscription to Perplexity AI.

Samsung and Perplexity partnered earlier this year to offer the paid-for AI service, for free, to U.S.-based Samsung Galaxy phone and tablet users. That was extended in October to Samsung TV and smart monitor users.

How to Claim Your Free Perplexity AI Pro Subscription On Samsung Galaxy Devices

If you’re unfamiliar, Perplexity AI exists as a chatbot and through its AI-powered browser, Comet. While similar to Gemini, Copilot, or ChatGPT, Perplexity claims to prioritize research accuracy over the creative image and video generation tools of its rival services. Crucially, it cites its sources so users can verify responses.

To get the freebie, head to the Samsung Galaxy Store (not the Google Play Store), download the Perplexity AI app, and create an account. That’s it; you should now have a full year of the Perplexity AI Pro tier. This freebie is available to Samsung Galaxy phone, tablet, and TV owners in the U.S.

Samsung is currently offering several other free subscriptions. Although they don’t match Perplexity’s $200 12-month offer, nor do they compete with the company’s previous free hardware giveaways, it is absolutely worth taking advantage of these extended free trials. Perplexity AI Could Become Part Of The Samsung Galaxy S26 Experience

Samsung is reportedly planning to roll out an updated version of its proprietary AI agent, Bixby, that will be powered by Perplexity for the Galaxy S26.

Samsung leaker @chunvn8888, who has previously been accurate about the introduction of AI notification summaries in future Samsung phones and the omission of a magnetic coil for Qi2 wireless charging in the Galaxy S25, posted on X that Bixby will be integrated with Perplexity.

Specifically, they noted that “basic” tasks will be handled by Samsung’s AI tools, while the more complex requests will be fulfilled by Perplexity. This clearly has been in the works for months because Bloomberg reported in June that Samsung and Perplexity were in discussions about joining forces, with a deal announcement potentially happening in 2025.

Nothing was ever officially confirmed, but the report did state that the plan was for the two companies to blend their AI services, with Perplexity potentially taking over as the default assistant on the Samsung Galaxy S26.
