Google has announced a patch for users of the very latest version of Android, which should be applied as soon as possible.
The Impact Of The Android 16 QPR2 Bug That Has Been Addressed
The bug fix does not apply to users running the regular Android release; it is only for those who have opted in to Google’s Developer Program, which provides access to new code and features ahead of a public release. This does come with some risk of show-stopping bugs that require fixes, which could be implemented through over-the-air updates, command line prompts from a desktop PC, or potentially a reset on the phone.
In this case, the patch is for Android 16’s QPR2 Beta 3. Google offers Quarterly Platform Releases for Android, which include new features, apps, and code updates for the main version. Android 16 is currently available out of the box with the first QPR released on September 3 2025.
When Will Android 16 QPR2 Be Released to the Public?
QPR2 is nearing release, hence the version currently in Beta. Yet, the second release of the Beta introduced a bug that could cause a failure to boot up if “enable desktop experience” was enabled. As a beta version with enthusiasts running through configurations, this would not be an unknown option to use.
This is the issue that Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3.1 addresses. At just 2.64 MB in size, it’s likely the only fix in this patch. Nevertheless, anyone running the QPR2 beta is strongly advised to apply this as quickly as possible.
