Beau Greaves took Michael van Gerwen all the way but couldn’t hold on as the world No. 3 won 5-4 on the opening night of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Down 4-2 at one point, Greaves fought back to throw for the match heading into the final leg, only to miss a checkout of 54.
That opened the door for van Gerwen to break throw and secure a nervy win in a thrilling opening night encounter in Wolverhampton.
