The Conjuring: Last Rites, starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, is a big hit in theaters. How soon will the film be available on streaming?
The fourth and last movie in The Conjuring movie series, which are based on the true-life case files of famed demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren, The Conjuring: Last Rites was released in theaters on Sept. 5.
Wilson and Farmiga first played the Warrens in The Conjuring in 2013, followed by The Conjuring 2 in 2016 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It in 2021. In between, Wilson and Farmiga starred in the Annabelle sequel Annabelle Comes Home in 2019.
After opening with a blistering $84.6 million at the North American box office Sept. 5-7, The Conjuring: Last Rites has earned $151.1 million domestically and $248.8 million internationally for a worldwide tally of $399.9 million.
Once The Conjuring: Last Rites hits $400 million in ticket sales worldwide, it will become the first movie in the Conjuring Cinematic Universe to reach that global benchmark.
‘The Conjuring’ Will Likely Debut On Digital Streaming In Early October
The next big release for The Conjuring: Last Rites will be on digital streaming, via premium video on demand, and the release date may not be that far away if it follows the same release pattern as other movies released by studio New Line Cinema’s parent company, Warner Bros.
Final Destination Bloodlines, for example, was released in theaters on May 16 and debuted on PVOD just over a month later on June 17, while Superman was released on July 11 and arrived on PVOD on Aug. 15. More recently, the Warner Bros./New Line Cinema horror smash Weapons opened in theaters on Aug. 8 and debuted on PVOD on Sept. 9.
Should The Conjuring: Last Rites follow the same release pattern, then the film should arrive on or around Oct. 7, since new films on PVOD typically arrive on Tuesdays.
When The Conjuring: Last Rites begins its Pay 1 window on streaming video on demand, it will premiere on Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform HBO Max. Both Final Destination Bloodlines and Superman had about a two and a half month window between the dates the films opened in theaters and their respective arrivals on HBO Max.
Should The Conjuring: Last Rites follow the same release pattern, then viewers can expect the film to debut on HBO Max on either Oct. 14 or Oct. 21, since new films on HBO Max typically debut on Fridays.
Rated R, The Conjuring: Last Rites is playing in theaters nationwide. Over the weekend, the film earned $12.9 million from 3,413 theaters for a No. 3 finish at the domestic box office behind Crunchyroll/Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle at No. 1 and Universal Pictures’ HIM at No. 2.
