Looking for a little help uncovering words in today’s New York Times Strands puzzle? The following guide will give you some extra hints and starting letters for each word on the grid. It’s a beautiful day outside, though a fall chill is in the air. I swear it was hot and summery a week ago. Sometimes the seasons slowly melt into one another and sometimes it’s like flipping a switch. In any case, let’s solve this Strands!

How To Play Strands

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.

Today’s Strands Breakdown

When I found STORY early on and it didn’t work, I figured it wasn’t a coincidence. Sure, I found other unusable words like CHAIN and STAIN but STORY felt like a part of something, maybe even the spangram. I kept searching and came up with HISTORY. Next, I found NEWS and then MOVIES. Once I’d found GEOGRAPHY I had a pretty good sense of where the spangram was going to be. I worked backwards and found NIGHT and then back a little further until I made TRIVIANIGHT. This left me with just SPORTS and MUSIC and all the categories were covered. Trivia night sounds fun, actually. It’s been ages since I’ve done something like that.
