Audio brand Onkyo has announced an addition to its new Icon Series of hi-fi separates with the launch of the new C-30 “high-performance” CD player that’s been designed to appeal to audiophiles who want a solid player for their CD collections.

The C-30 is a hi-fi grade CD player offering premium performance at a sensible price of just $349. The player has been engineered with discerning listeners in mind and uses an exclusive Vector Linear Shaping Circuit, a proprietary technology that removes pulse noise from the signal path using advanced algorithms.

Clean And Distortion Free

Onkyo says its new player has a clean and distortion-free analog output from the 24-bit/192kHz DAC. With an 107dB signal-to-noise ratio, Onkyo says the C-30 provides exceptionally quiet backgrounds with detailed audio, while a precision ±10PPM clock provides accurate timing for a focused and stable stereo image.

The new C-30 is tuned for sonic purity and has a vibration-resistant, blast-finished aluminum front panel that reduces resonance to produce a clean playback. At the rear of the device, there are hi-fi-grade RCA, optical and digital coaxial outputs, which means the C-30 can work with a wide variety of audio systems.

The player’s drive mechanism can handle standard CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs. In addition, it can also play MP3 and WMA files for versatile access to almost any kind of music or audio stored on a CD.

Contemporary Chassis

Onkyo’s new Icon Series is a range of premium audio separates using cutting-edge technology with a modern design. The C-30 was originally unveiled at CES 2025 and will begin shipping in October 2025. All the products in the Onkyo Icon Series have a contemporary chassis built to house the latest technologies.

The Icon Series includes Onkyo’s Icon A-50 two-channel integrated amplifier, the Icon P-80 two-channel network pre-amplifier, plus the Icon M-80 two-channel power amplifier. Each piece in the Icon Series is available in a choice of silver or black finishes, which will complement most high-end audio systems.

The Onkyo Icon A-50 is an integrated Class AB two-channel stereo amplifier with an output of 110W at 8Ω and 180W at 4Ω. Its inputs include RCA, optical, USB-A and phono stages for MM/MC cartridges. The C-30 also comes with DIRAC Limited room correction and retails for $1,599.

The Icon P-80 is Onkyo’s two-channel network pre-amplifier with RCA, optical, USB-A, phono (MM/MC), and XLR inputs. It supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth streaming, as well as being Roon Ready. It includes DIRAC Limited with paid upgrades for Full Band and bass control. The unit has a removable power cord and retails for $1,999.

Finally, the Onkyo Icon M-80 is a Class AB two-channel power amplifier with a 130W output into 8Ω and 200W into 4Ω. The Icon M-80 has XLR inputs, analog volume unit meters and a removable power cord. The price is $1,999.

The new Onkyo Icon Series goes beyond merely sleek aluminum casings and glass meters. It delivers high-current, high-speed, high-resolution performance and is backed by nearly 80 years of Onkyo’s audio innovation. This is a range built for audiophiles who want full-range sound with next-generation technology at a more affordable price and is available through Onkyo’s global network of distributors.
