Other World Computing, the maker of high-performance storage, memory, connectivity, software and accessories for creative and business professionals, has announced the launch and pre-order availability of its first OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock.

Designed for the demands of content creators, power users and video professionals, this all-in-one docking station offers high speeds, broad device compatibility and enhanced visual output. OWC claims its new Thunderbolt 5 Dock sets a benchmark for workstation expansion and productivity.

The OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock is an all-in-one portal for connecting more at faster speeds, thanks to support for the latest Thunderbolt 5 standard that provides a seamless way of expanding a creative workflow.

Thunderbolt 5 has a bi-directional data speed of up to 80Gb/s and 120Gb/s for higher display bandwidth needs. Users can connect to three 8K displays or dual 6K displays on Macs. The new dock works with Thunderbolt 5, 4, 3, USB4, and USB-C devices. It can safely deliver up to 140W of power to charge heavy-duty laptops, as well as connect to three separate device chains without interruption

The new dock has 11 ports, including three Thunderbolt 5 (USB-C), two USB-A 10Gb/s and one USB-A 5Gb/s. There is a 2.5GbE Ethernet (MDM ready), microSD and SD UHS-II slots, 3.5mm audio combo jack. Users can connect, transfer and power through complex workflows.

The dock also works with Apple iPad Pros and other USB-C tablets by transforming them into full-fledged ProStations. The dock enables displays, keyboards, drives and peripherals with just one cable, making it suitable for mobile content creators needing desktop-level performance.

OWC says that each of its Thunderbolt 5 Docks is thoroughly tested and Thunderbolt-certified for reliability. In addition, the dock includes OWC’s Dock Ejector software for safe one-click device disconnection and is Apple SuperDrive compatible, so users can play and burn CDs/DVDs.

“We designed the OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock to be that one tool you didn’t know you needed… that is, of course, until you use it,” says Larry O’Connor, founder and CEO of OWC. “It gives creatives and professionals the power and flexibility to connect everything they need, without compromise. Whether you’re in the studio, on set, or at your kitchen table, this dock helps you get more done, more easily – and it’s built to grow with you into the future.”

Pricing and Availability:

With a price of $329.99, the OWC Thunderbolt 5 Dock includes a certified Thunderbolt 5 cable, external power supply, and customer support. Shipping is estimated for early July.
