As A Christian, Is Going To Church A Must ?

Growing up was fun and joyful as we always anticipated Sunday's and church services because that was how we were nurtured and brought up, back then we started from attending Sunday-schools and some other church activities. We were taught some bible verses and rhymes which made us love attending church services more often. Apparently, most of us loved Christ more than our earthly parents (Amusing right?)

Well, being naive isn't a crime though, but as a Christian do you think it is mandatory to go to church always as a prove of worshiping God whole heartedly ? I have come to realize that most church goers are hypocrites, often times they are two faced meaning they don't always project the true definition of being a Christian as such lifestyle isn't in accordance to Christianity and christian lives.

These days there are lots of fake pastors with fake prophecies and visions, a lot of people has been misled by these so acclaimed men of God. Sometimes, i really don't understand the motive behind Christianity if it isn't practiced the right way and for these reasons a lot of people have digressed from going to churches because it is more safer to be alone than to be led by some sets of hypocrites. I think where most people get things all wrong is basically their perception on how to practice Christianity because since the bible claimed that GOD is everywhere i don't see reasons why church is a must to attend.

God is in you, God is in your heart and God is everywhere so seek for him elsewhere aside the church. That way i believe you can have a more genuine relationship with God

As A Christian, Is Going To Church A Must ?

  • Going to church is not a must for christians because the bible says christ dwell in us and wherever two or three are gather he his there in their midst, so i can be in my house and invite the presence of God to do wonders in my life.

  • Yes it's a must even the Bible approved that.Looking at it the isrealite doesn't play with the Sabbath Day because it's a order from God to all Christians to sacrifice the Sabbath day for him

  • Going to church helps to strengthen your spirit man..sometimes seeing others pray can prompt you to pray, some prayers are better prayed with joining of hands, joining of faith of different people of God..

  • Why I will say going to church is must is because, it has been stated in the commandments God gave to us that,  it is our duty as believers to keep the Sabbath day Holy.  God gave us 7days to engage in our various activities and asked us to sacrifice just a day for him. Although we have fake pastors here and there. As a genuine believer, we're made to know that by their fruit we shall know them,  and that's if truly you serve God truthfully and have a cordial relationship with him. As Christians we're also asked not to forsake the gathering of the believers,  and that where 2 or 3 persons mention of his name, his there with them

  • It should be a must because God himself made reference to it. He made a reference for us to gather together and worship Him. But if one is on able to go to church a particular Sunday not a problem that should keep him not to go next Sunday.

We all have our bible and read about what God commanded us. What we need to do is to get to know God personal by so doing the attitude of hypocrisy, fake pastor, and fake prophecy will not be the reason while we should stop to go to Church. Not everybody is going to make heaven, we have such people everywhere. They may be our family member, they may be our neighbor, Colleque at workplace, or a Church member or a pastor. This people are everywhere you can't live on earth without associating with them. The are everywhere not only in the Church. If you are able to identify then, they should not stop you from going to church.

  • Well, I think going to church is not a must and when you consider the atrocity many of this fake pastors and the rest has caused but since our outmost goal of going to church is God, and Hebrew 10:25 says  "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near" God is interested we go to church.

  • Well it is not a must but it is essential, it is just like saying if as a human is eating food a must. If you don't feed your spirit and surround yourself with people whom share same believe with you, you wunt be able to grow. I am typing this from experience. There was a time I felt saturated with the word of God I stopped going to church like before at a point I saw myself doing things I shouldn't do, my prayer life went so low and I almost went into depression

  • Yes,it is a must. The bible said we should not ignores the gathering of the brethren.

The Bible also said without faith, no man can  please God and faith cometh by hearing the word of God,this can be done in church.

The Bible also said were two or three are gathered, he is there in their midst.

  • No I don't think it's a must because there is a saying that where two or more are gathered inthe name of the Lord the Lord I s with them,so I think it's not a must  because a congregation can be held at home

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

  • If we continue looking on the life s of people that goes to church we may not wish to remain Christian's but the reality is church is good for uplifting your spirit and renewing your strength I christ, as the bible puts it, do not neglect the gathering of the brethren.  Here it is telling us that we need to be going to gathering in other to be corrected cos we may not know when we will be going astray thinking we are right, beware the devil always gives us the thought that "it doesn't matter "

  • It is a must and not a must. It is must because the bible says "We should not neglect the gathering of believers." Hebrews 10:25.We need each other grow. And we need to gather and have fellowship as one body of Christ.

It is not a must because there times that one may be reuired at work place, look after a sick relation at home or the hospital such circumstance, they must not go to CHurch.

    - George Amos - 2019-08-18 21:37:45 Quote

  • The bible says, faith cometh by hearing n hearing the word of God. When you go to church always, you keep hearing the word of God and your faith keeps rising as a result. When your faith is strong enough, then you would stand the test of time. That's what Church does, the gathering of brethren builds your faith. Iron sharpens iron.

    - Akpokurerie Adline - 2019-08-18 23:33:37 Quote

  • Its a must because the bible says not forsaking the assembly of ourselves together (Heb.10:25). But if the spirit convinced you that the gathering is not on the right track with God, it is preferable to stay at home and study the word of God and let the spirit leads you to a better gathering

    - Adeniyi James - 2019-08-18 23:56:50 Quote

  • We don't go to church because we're in love with the pastor or the wife of the pastor, or the Sunday School teacher. We should go because we love God and want to worship Him. So you can't do without going to church The Bible says, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25).

And finally it is just like saying " if I stay at home & read without going for lectures I will pass that maths course" that's pathetic!

  • Since God can answer prayer anywhere, going to church is not mandatory, just believe in God and pray to him anywhere you are and am sure he will answer your prayer. False prophet are preaching now, may God heal the world

Cause the Bible as a manual to Christians, and we all know the usefulness of manual. It said not forsaking the assembly of brethren as the manner of some is but exhorting one another and so much the more even as you see the day approaching. so I think it's very important cause we were commanded to do so.

  • God has made it known to us from His book in Hebrews 10 verse 25 that we should always be gathered to fellowship together as Christians. This can be true Bible studies, the Holy communion, mass, Sunday school etc.

It is when Christians meet together that they strengthen each other with encouraging words from the Bible.

  • As a Christian going to church should not be a question because that is one of the best ways in which you can grow spiritually. When you fellowship with others who have like minds with you you all help each other and I think that is the main reason for church; to fellowship with Christ.

  • I am of the view that the church is a community of belivers that help one another to grow in faith and knowledge of God. One cannot really practise his or her faith by just sitting at home and believing in God. He or she has to belong to the community of belivers.

  • As a Christian, going to Church is must because God instructed us to do that. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; so much the more as ye see the day approaching". Heb 10:25. Any Christian who loves the Lord obeys His commandments without trying to rationalize it.

  • I think going to church is mandatory for every born again Christian since Jesus christ laid example by spending quality time in the house of God, however religion nowadays has been turned into an avenue for generating income and this has caused the faith of so many to waver. Churches nowadays neglect the major topics affecting religion and Christianity as a whole and dive into other irrelevant topics. If you ask me I think what matters most is serving God in spirit and truth which you can do comfortably in your house, place of work or even while walking. The most important thing is your heart

  • Christian. Look up definitions of the word and you’ll probably find that “person who attends Church” does not fall into any of them. To be a Christian essentially means to be a follower of Christ. And what does it mean to follow Christ? The only place to look to find the true meaning, is the Bible.

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24. in my option you should always go to church as a faithful christian

    - Nora Chidera - 2019-08-19 21:27:13 Quote

  • I think going to church is never a must, church shouldn't be somewhere we go out of duty but somewhere we go to learn and edify our spiritual life so if you know that Sunday is not a day you feel like learning then  going to church wouldn't be a good idea

    - Nmesomachi Nwikpo - 2019-08-19 22:40:28 Quote

  • The reason why the church is important is for the purpose of learning because there are some kingdom mysteries that you alone might not comprehend but when we come together in fellowship we share insight and revelation together and this would help you grow better spiritually...

See Hebrews 10:25 for better light.

  • Well, I see Christianity as a personal relationship with God so whether others do it right or not shouldn't bother anyone only if you yourself are on the right track. Also if anyone is really committed to God, then obeying his laws is also very important which includes never abandoning the fellowship of the brethren which was stated clearly in the Bible.

    - Faithful Ugochukwu - 2019-08-20 00:25:42 Quote

  • The number one reason to encourage christians to go to church is because the Bible instructs us to be in relationship with other believers. If we are part of Christ's body, we will recognize our need to fit into the body of believers. The church is the place where we come together to encourage one another as members of Christ's body. Together we fulfill an important purpose on the Earth.

It is not a reasonable excuse to ignore the gathering of brethren which the bible said is pleasing and to God. Moreso, everyone will give account of his or her own stewardship to God our maker (God) who is Ominipotent, Ominipresent.
