Breaking Up Has Made Rudeboy And Mr P Better Musicians

When the news of not only one of Nigeria's best musical acts but Africa's best group for that matter broke out on the internet as well as on print medias across the continent, shock was an understatement to describe the feeling.

The eccentric twins P-square no doubt conquered every music lover within the African continent and prior to their parting ways, was enjoying global attention with hit songs recorded with top international acts like T.I, Akon, Rick Ross, Awilo, David Scott etc.

One of the reasons given by Mr P for the duo going solo was that he wasn't given room to express himself. His songs were often overlooked and termed "not classy" hence songs written by Rudeboy dominated albums recorded by Psquare as a group.

It's been 3years since the group disbanded in 2016 and both acts have been up and doing releasing single after single.

Mr P has done good songs like Ebeano, Cool it Down, Zombie and most recently One More Night featuring Niniola on the hit making single.

Rudeboy on the other hand has not relented with hit singles and features added to his archive over the three years of going solo.

Fan favourites like Double Trouble, Nkenji Keke, Audio Money, Chizoba, Reason With Me have all gone further to demonstrate how good Rudeboy is lyrically.

All said and done, the duo's breakup has been a blessing in disguise as both acts are not doing badly as solo acts. Many fans still hope and pray to hear Psquare is back together as a crew. Until then, let's enjoy the solo exploits of Mr P and Rudeboy as they've become better along the way.

Do you agree that Mr P and Rudeboy have become better musicians since their breakup?

  • Both boys are hugely talented, no doubts about that. with one's major talent being singing and wrting songs and the other dancing, and true to the poster's perception, they both have not done so badly individually ever since parting ways as a group, However, The duo as a group rather than as individuals is stronger, more impactful, more powerful, and complements each other's talent. I'd prefer they team back together, and resolve there differences. collective power rather than individualism is more impactful and more entertaining.

  • I really love the duo. At first I was pained when I heard about the split up. I respect the motive behind their decision. Right now, I love Mr. P's hit single, cool it down and Rude boy's reason with me. God bless them.

  • The both brothers  breakup in 2017 was explosive,in the three years leading up to it,both artist seem to have dissimilarities in the way they record music. This past year has shown that regardless of which brother ends up looking like an angel or which brother comes out on top, Peter and Paul’s strengths and shortcomings balance out in a way that P-Square will probably always be greater than the sum of its parts.

  • The fact that they have been releasing singles doesn't mean that they have gotten better compared to when they were together. I still miss the days they were together. Though I can say they have fared bad but definitely not better

  • I don't think so because P-Square are these kind of people when they drop a new  track before a month they will get up to 1.5 millions viewers on YouTube but now look what is happening take more than three months before they get up to 1 million viewers on YouTube so they are not any better now rather they are  scratching from the lowest part of it imagine what will happen if they came back and drop a song it will take  1 week before the getting million viewers

  • Breaking up has sure made them better artist, now we are entertained with different tunes which we wouldn't have gotten if they were still together. Working independently has made them grown respectively

  • It was unbelievable for then to separate from each other just because they don't understand themselves because if they do they will not allow any third party in their life to me I don't like it or their music anymore I think they should go back together again

  • These popular Nigerian Artists have done so much together and have had lots of achievement together. I respected their opinion and their plight when they had to break Up in 2016, most people thought that will be the end of their musical career, but here they still are making very good music individually as Mr P. And Rude boy.  This has indeed show their Musical strength.

  • The two twins together is extraordinary awesome, actually to my own point of view they are both doing OK dominating as well but I pray for their reunion once more time. Because we both know that two is way far better than one.

  • The two have been making good music since after their break up of being psquare to rudeboy and mr P. Rudeboy is now well known than his twin brother because of his cool release

  • The only relevant thing am happy for them splitting up it because the both has realized their potentials and what they are capable of i could remember when rudeboy told mr peter that he cannot sing all he could do is to dance, but mr peter really proved him wrong thou am not happy for them breaking up as p-square cause as they were p-square they were ranking first in nigeria, this is my opinion thanks.

  • Absolutely, breaking up has made each one of them understand their weaknesses and become better. You know when you are two, you may not know how powerful or how weak you are until you get separated.

  • None of the two is doing bad after breakup, as it is when Psaquare were one their songs have this kind of energy you know two people with same hot vision but know that they are separated their music had taken a new shape, each with personal grace, i think Mr P's solo is cool and Rudeboy dance hall songs are awesome too...

But i wish to see them back together.

  • This is absolutely not right, they are brothers why fighting within them, money make brothers to separate or woman as we all know.woman can kill talk less of making yoiu to separate from your brothers.. Is really painful, they started this music peaceful and I pray that God will help them to understand it well.

  • They both share equal personalities, Mr p is a dancer while Rudeboy is a professional singer, I really miss P square *-* without P square peter and paul are nothing. So Mr p and Rudeboy I choose them both. They are both doing well.

  • Sometimes go solo really make sence, take for instance plantation boiz, they splited years ago, after then we have 3 strong musicians that rock the atmosphere, we have face, black face and 2 face. We have remedies, who are Eddie Montana,Tony tetiula etc. Breaking up of group of musicians gives room to expanciate the music industry itself.Mr Ps have done themselves well by splited. Both are doing well in their music. What we fans are expecting from them is collaboration soon.Keep burbling bros

  • Yea, since the broke_up , Mr p has been releasing cool musics with cool vibes even rudeboy.

Meanwhile, physically the broke up but the cord joining them together as twins is not yet broke.

  • Does it really matter? Of course splitting up was a bad idea because they were better together than alone. Yes these songs sounds perfect ND all but if you think abt it. They don't even compete with songs sung by theduo. I miss them. I wish they come back together

    - Okonkwo Chelsea - 2019-09-08 08:45:27 Quote

  • Yes, they've done well enough for themselves while on their own. Although I'm of the opinion that in Nigeria most of our musicians gets well paid through shows and concert and it will be very rare to see be it Rudeboy or Mr P headline a show but P square can still do that.  I won't rule out their coming together again.

    - Adedayo Salami - 2019-09-08 09:34:25 Quote

  • When the two were one, they really rock the world with their amazing talents.their music went while and near, they used to release bagging hit  tracks almost twice a year back in the days.but now may be you hear their new music once in two years.personally i expect them to re-unite and feed us with their sweet melodies.

  • I don't agree that they've  become better because all the songs listed above don't sound familiar, they were a stronger force together but it's apparent they couldn't manage their differences for the greater good, now they are just be some artiste that once ruled

    - Sometochi Okolo - 2019-09-08 09:46:30 Quote

  • Not at all ever since they broke up the rain of p-square ended in my locality if not for just few of there music that was constantly played on FM and TV,infact ever since then they have as well dropped from best and richest musicians in Nigeria.

To me I believe they make good and better music's when they are together and wish they can come back the way they use to be because am really missing they cool beats guy.

    - Nnamani Josh - 2019-09-08 09:57:24 Quote

  • Not being a bad musician, I agree but saying it makes them better, I don't think so. In as much as both of them has been quite consistent since their breakup they have not been better either, more like an average musician I would say. Another reason that has cause that is the due to the brand P-square which is no longer in existence for now. Commercially both are  no longer up there, considering the nice songs both of them has made separately, they would have been achieved very much with the brand P-square. I just pray they sustain the industry as they move on.

  • Rude boy and Mr P are very good when they were known as Psquare and their songs go places but now they are on their own, thou their music is cool respectively but not as interesting as the psqure we know.

    - Prince Robinson - 2019-09-08 10:21:05 Quote

  • I disagree with that... Cause when they were together as psqure, they were better than they are now... Their songs then blows better then compared to now.... Left to me I still prefer when them as psquare than the Mr P and RudeBoy

  • I think it will make them better. Doing their career individually would help them discover personal area of strength and weakness. But I still believe they would make sense as a team than individually.

  • The twins known as p square has been a great nigeria artists performing well.since they break up,they have been doing also well but i don't think there is something like peace and unity. For me, i think if they reconcile they will do better than this because they said that two heads are better than one.

  • I disagree totally that they have been better off separately.let's recall and look back to 2002 when this hit limelight the combo energy the hits the love and fans base of both pulled and compared to now, unless we will be deceiving ourselves they were more formidable back then than now.

  • To me ,it is very much better they perform as duo,I was very sad three years ago when they splitted ,i will love rudeboy and mr p to come together as one,as twin that they are,to continue the psquare, because as they gave excuse that they can't express their singing skills, they can also exhibit and express their singing skills.please and please, rude boy and mr p,come back as psquare.

    - Oluchi Faith - 2019-09-08 11:55:47 Quote

  • I don't think it has made any of them better persons, they might have discovered themselves musically, but their relationship is more important to us the fans. We wish they could reconcile as brothers and still do their music separately if they want to.

  • Even though they are twins but let's not forget that both are unique individuals and their talents differs but having said that i would love them to be back but till then let them continue to giving in their best. Rudeboy is just the Master of Psquare

  • They've not become better musicians in any way. Their popularity poll dropped considerably after they separated. No matter what, two heads will always be better than one.I feel them going solo was not the right move but it was their choice so nothing can be done about it. I wish them more blessings and breakthroughs ahead.

  • Well, to me, Rude boy still remains the better out of the both of them. Rudeboy reminds me of psquare because even when they were still together, he used to be the lead vocal, but Mr p sounds like just any other average singer. Tho, they are both doing fine, but Rudy is still the better.

    - Kehinde Oladipupo - 2019-09-08 16:48:46 Quote

  • The duo of the now defunct p-square group have always displayed high level of talent, dedication and hard work, something else I noticed is the non relenting spirit they both possess. But personally I think the okoye brothers would have been better together than apart, I see Mr P to be more of a dancer and Rudeboy to be more of a singer. So I would love them to be together.
