In real life people are addicted to a whole lot of things; sm0king, alc0hol, drvgs, [email protected], p0rn0graphy and so on.
If you are struggling with any form of addiction today or know someone who is, let this inspire hope in your heart and help you to effortlessly break out and overcome whatever it is that seems to have taken a hold of you.
You need to understand that addictions are only as powerful as you view them in your mind. Drvgs, [email protected], alc0hol and so on do not on their own have the ability to control and dominate you completely.
But there are also stories of people who conquered various kinds of addictions within a short period of time and determination.
The question is, Can we avoid addiction totally or we can control it?
Kindly censor sensitive words in your comment.
To me, addiction can be totally avoided first you must start by controlling it. In as much as you tend to feel that you cannot do without a particular addiction, just give it a try and engage yourself in reading. You will find out that you will gradually overcome it
It's possible but not in any way easy.
It takes a very strong determination, a positive mindset that it is possible, a surrounding of good friends who would help your situation and not add to your problem, a surrounding that is not too tempting in what you are trying to be free from.
To avoid addiction, personal discipline and sacrifice is required. Also prayers, avoid being close to those same stuff that could tempt you back into it, stay away from your bad friends.
Yes of course,Addiction is a choice; Before getting addicted to hard drugs, you would have thought about it in your mind. I think the best preventive measure is mass education on the effects of hard drugs on the body and a youthful empowerment program for the youth to get them engage
My opinion is addiction can be controlled...cos I don't think you can avoid it... once you are addicted to something is difficult to let go of it... the best thing is to control it and with you wont the be addicted to the stuff like you do before
yes can be control by preventing
Prevention is the best way to keep people from becoming addicted to drugs examples of prevention is for you to learned how deal with life pressures.
The inability to deal with normal life pressures is one of the major reasons that drive people to drugs and alcohol
Some things are legal and some are illegal, so if you are addicted to an illegal thing it is good you cut-off completely but if its a legal thing then what you need is control.
The mind runs the body and so what is conceived in the heart is performed by the body of which avoidance and control depends on conception.
In my own opinion it takes alot to be able to avoid addicted. Am not saying it impossible but it's rare. When it's controlled then it's better. I think controlled is what is likely to be seen when it comes to addiction
It can be avoided if only the person has the zeal to avoid it.
And the person must be lectured from time to time about the bad act.
Then eventually the person will avoid the bad act.
Addiction is like a spirit in someone it controls the way a person lives his/her life. Infact addiction can easily be avoided, by not involving in any of the addicted acts mentioned earlier such as: taking of illegal drUgs, sm00king etc. Controlling of addiction is so so difficult but avoiding it is more easier
You have said the truth by saying that addiction has it root in the mind. So it can be avoided and controlled by still same mind.
All the victims needs to do is to mind his/her thoughts and control what he/she thinks.
Also, avoid anything that can make him/she fall victim again.
It is better if you avoid addiction, why?
Because once you are an addict it is nearly impossible to control, the urge increases day by day without you doing that thing(whatever you are an addict on) it seems like you are incomplete. It becomes your everyday lifestyle and controlling might be worse, a saying goes like this "precaution is better than cure". So it is better when you avoid.
Over time, the outcome the addict is seeking may change. For instance, initial experimentation with a drug is often rooted in curiosity. As use of the substance becomes more frequent, the body starts to grow physically dependent on the drug in order to function properly.
Addiction can be control through rehabilitation, though it is a slow process that requires time. It can also be reduce to minimal through interaction with people of different caliber
Depends on What you're addicted to. There are some that can be controlled and some that has to be stopped totally especially when its becoming a habit.
For sure I believe addiction can be avoided with serious mindset
Can one avoid what he is already into?
Addiction can and only be controlled and after a significant success, addiction would be confidently controlled by total avoidance.
First of all, one needs to discover the problem before it can be solved. Try to find out what you are addicted to and begin to and apply some withdrawal Technics and most importantly ask God for the grace to quit.
The addict was not born like that,he/she started it a day and it can be stop, controlled, rejected y that same person only if he/she is ready to do what is right to his/her system.
depend on what you are addicted to, but yes its poosible to.
Avoiding addiction permanently by oneself is not really easy bit with prayers and faith in God, it is easy. Controlling of addiction is also not easy but it is must easier than trying to avoid drug
Addiction is life threatening depending on what an individual is addicted to ,and to be able to avoid been addicted to something, one need to stop doing it little by little, addiction can olny be avoided then later controlled .
If you ask me... It depends on what you are addicted to. I love weed and I know I'm addicted but when it comes to life and death. Weed has to give way. Nicotine is another major issue, since it's the addiction content in cigarettes, people who tend to smoke cigarettes find it difficult to stop compared to weed smokers
Addiction isn't what you can't avoid or control so easily. It will only take God intervention for you to stop the act.
I will partially agree and disagree with you here, there are certain addictions that when you make up your mind and are willing to do what it takes to stop it then it can be stopped.
I know it’s really hard breaking those bad habits especially when it has become an addiction. I advice people to rather avoid it totally than get into it then begin the struggle. Like what do you say about the addiction to cigarettes? Which is caused by the nicotine contained in it that causes the secretion of dopamine (this gives the sweet feeling/ sensation)
Still, breaking an addiction is very possible
It can be controlled and and avoided but first you control it by reducing it bit by bit as time goes on you will see yourself stopping it permanently. Example for someone who is addicted to cocaine. If the person takes 500g it is controlled by giving the person 480g then 450g continue reducing it till it gets to when the person stops it totally.
Addiction can not be avoided because you won't know while getting addicted to something but it can be controlled
By making a right decision to stay clear and far away from that which you are addicted to.
Addiction is difficult to control but with discipline and rehabilitation, it is possible
Addiction can only be stopped by great mindset and grace of God
It depends, some can be stopped tottally while some just habe to be controlled, in stopping this addiction, such person has to reduce the rate of acting those illegal stuffs such as the cigerate,In respect to gambling etc this is as a result of unemployment, people tend to gamble and the rest in other to get money from it, someone whos employed, either self employed or employed would not be in action with gambling.
You can avoid been addicted through a refined mindset. The person should have passed through series of correction and him or her yielding is a success I.e avoid what caught his or her attention
Yes, it takes God's grace to control and stop any addictiveness. However one needs a closer relationship with God, plus getting useful in any other activities that could serve as a total distraction from that which s/he is addicted to
Addiction can be avoided and be controlled in a sense that when someone get addicted to something it becomes part of someone.
By avoiding it, it takes a lot of time because It won't be so easy to avoid and by controlling it, it takes a little time to control but will need assistance from a close friends or relatives
In my opinion Yes it can be controlled.. Addiction is a psychological and physical inability to stop consuming a chemical, drug, activity, or substance, even though it is causing psychological and physical harm.Addiction treatment can be difficult, but it is effective. The best form of treatment depends on the substance and the presentation of the addiction, which varies from person to person. However, treatment often involves counseling, medication, and community support
In western world, there are a lot of rehabilitation center for control of drugs addict. These center enable medical staffs to take proper checks on the addicted person and all offer advice concerning drugs.
Yes it can be avoided or controlled with the right mindset and determination
Addiction can be curbed systematically when determination is greatly involved. Awareness about the negative sides will also boost the fight against the certain addiction in this generation
Addiction can be controlled, if decision is made by the addict, to stop what ever he/she is addicted to.Descpline and self control can be one of the means the addiction can be controlled.
personally, i feel addiction should be avoided totally and not trying to control it
Yes it can with the aid of a psychologist .
But personally I don't think the individual should start talk more of now controlling it.
addiction is not easy to stop.only by heavenly intervention
Well addiction can be controlled
As you become addicted, you may experience withdrawal when you aren't able to do the addictive behavior. Physical withdrawal symptoms may occur, such as shaking, feeling unwell, stomach upsets, and/or psychological withdrawals symptoms, such as feeling anxious and depressed. These are easily fixed by more of the addictive substance or behavior.
Physical withdrawal from alcohol and drugs can be overcome quite quickly, although it tends to be quite unpleasant and it can be dangerous. If you decide to quit, it is best done under medical supervision. Discuss physical withdrawal with your doctor for the best way to approach this. Once you have been through withdrawal, there are deeper psychological processes that make it difficult to stay "on the wagon."
Addiction can be controlled depending on how you train yourself
Addiction can be controlled but the ability to do so varies from person to person. Sometimes dealing with triggers such as environment, friends etc could help.
You can control anything. You can curb addictions. It all begins in Yur mind once you can configure ur thoughts away frm the subject of addiction and fill it with love for something else. You'd b fine
It can be if you set your mind on it and some people thinks getting addicted is spiritual but I don't believe in that it depends on the individual mindset if he or she wants to give up on it
It depends on the type of addiction
There are some addiction that without therapy
It will be close to impossible to stop
And there are some caused by a disease
Obsessive compulsive disorder
It's a mental disorder which can affect addictions
Addiction can be avoided but it all depends on what you allow to control you and when you are already addicted you can break from through determination and recognition of it's harm on you
