Do Juventus Really Need Cristiano Ronaldo

Over the past years, the old ladies have been struggling to win a European competition despite scaling through some of European best team in the champions league winning the final seems to be the toughest task of all. In the past 5 years they played two finals losing both to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively. Their last final lose was against Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to win the UEFA Champions League top scorer.

They end up signing him on a club record signing fee but lost out in the quarter finals against Ajax Amsterdam despite surprisingly knocking Atheltico Madrid on aggregate with the Portuguese all time top scorer scoring a hattrick in Turin on the returning leg were they lost the first game at the Wanda Metropolitano 2:0.

The question now is do they really need to single handedly rely on Cristiano Ronaldo or other players like Dybala, Higuain, Costa, Federico, etc for more fire power.

  • When it comes to winning the UEFA Champions league Cristiano Ronaldo Is an expert. So yes Juventus needs him but they shouldn't rely on him alone to bring the trophy home. They should rather rely on his winning experience and use it as a guide. But when it comes to fire power they should rely on all the team players.

  • In my own opinion the signing of Ronaldo by juventus has done more harm to team on the pitch than good, my reason for this statement is at Madrid with years they found a way to build their team around him and everyone knew their job to make Ronaldo good but juventus have not found a system that help them and Ronaldo at the same time and the more they waste time the damage they do to the team as a whole. Now i can say it was a bad idea buying Ronaldo except for the market value.

  • He still fit and can created more good than harm so I strongly believe the team still need him there he might not be as vibrant as before but I believe he still has something to contribute his a goal machine but the team can still put some younger players in place to support him. He can't carry the whole of the team alone many good hands makes work light

  • I think the team needs him because his a guy that has determination and is willing to go extra mile to achieve his goal but they shouldn't rely on him alone, the likes of dybala and D.costa is good to carry a team like that for more winning streak.

  • I think they do need him because Ronaldo is an experience player when it comes to the champions league, Ronaldo is an expert and experience player,he knows how to deal with the big occasion and I think if Juventus are to go far in the championship league they need a guy like Ronaldo in the team.although team work is the best thing to do but they still need to build the team round Ronaldo

  • Ronaldo has proved time and over that he can play consistently at the highest level. The defensively based football Is the problem with juventus. Ronaldo thrives in an attacking team set up as obvious in his hattrick for Portugal yesternight. If Juve can set up an attack minded team, then they'll surely enjoy Mr Champions League CR7

  • When it comes to winning the champions league yes I would say Cristiano  Ronaldo is very experienced in that aspect  due to the fact he has won five champions league trophies and also the only player to have scored in three finals. But only ronaldo can't win the cup he need all the players to be at their best. Finally ronaldo has a winning spirit which will be an added advantage to the squad. And it is evident that even at this age, he is still an asset and delivers.

  • If Juventus want to win champion league, they need a player like Ronaldo. Ronaldo is a great player that have a lot to deliver to the team, when it's comes to champion league Ronaldo is a player that have a lot of experience that will help the team to be the champion's.

  • Ronaldo is a world class player, he has always been helpful during his time at Manchester and Madrid, now he's at Juventus, I think he can bring the glory to them even though he isn't that young, all what they need is to build their team around him.

    - Andrew bitrus - 2019-11-16 09:08:54 Quote

  • Ronaldo is a machine, but he needs his team to rally around him better, not to idolize him and play like he’s the compulsory scorer for all of their goals. If he leaves Juve in their current state, they will eventually suffer the same blowback as Real Madrid, because Dybala is performing lesser than before, Buffon is getting old, Chiellini and Bonnuci are getting old, and the midfield is constantly plagued by injury. Juve need a contingency plan

  • True, Cristiano carries with him alot of experience as a footballer but to win the champions league all the players need to come together and play with determination and strong spirit. No doubt they need a world class experienced player like Ronaldo but they also need a strong team spirit cause personally i think the current squad they have is very much capable of winning the champions league.

  • I think Juventus needs Ronaldo...ronaldo is a key player in any game of football and seems to creates opportunity when needed. He has done more good than harm for Juventus. He is an expert of winning Champions Leaugue. But Juventus has skillful players too, so i dont think Ronaldo should carry the burden alone. In other for Juventus to win cups the way Ronaldo won for madrid, they have to be a teamplay.

  • Yes, juventus need CR7 more and they need to give him more playing time and support.

CR7 is a very hardworking player, who takes every game very important no jokes and that is what every team needs to win anything meaningful. The earlier the better they realizes and embrace it, the better for the team

    - Ayodeji Ajibola - 2019-11-20 12:47:45 Quote

  • Yes juventus really needs Cristiano Ronald, when it comes to champions league his an expert, but they should not try to rely on him on all big occasions because he might not save them, in 2018 finals champion league he did not score any goal instead is team (benzema and bale) scored all the goals in the final

    - Osayamen Toluwa - 2019-11-23 10:17:38 Quote

  • To me ronaldo is the best player in the world and I think he still got what it takes but it doesn't mean they should rely only on him because they have other amazing players in the team so they shouldn't rely only on ronaldo but rely on the whole team.

    - Suleiman Hassan - 2019-11-23 12:38:46 Quote

  • Juventus wasted money on Ronaldo, the guy is old and cannot give you the champions league at 34 years when Messi is still in form. This season he has been so infertile in front of the goal in Turin. I believe the guy's era has come and gone. Juventus should go and sign young players and not leftovers. Ronaldo cannot assure you 30 goals per season any more in the league unlike in Madrid where everyone works for him.

  • When it come to champions league,  cr7 is the best of all time,  he has a team and a winning spirit but that doesn't mean that Juve fc should rely on him,  but in some aspect they should coz he brings hope where there is no hope and he also hates challenges

    - Obiora Cornelius - 2019-11-25 11:23:17 Quote

  • The only team that doesn't need Ronaldo is Barcelona. And that's because of Messi. Ronaldo without a doubt still has plenty to offer. Asides from the commercial boost Juventus has got since his arrival. His presence also brings some sort of fear factor and increases their chance of winning the UCL. Ps: Buffon came back because he believes Ronaldo is the key.

    - Temitope John - 2019-11-25 11:46:49 Quote

  • Well my answer to this is that they should not rely on Ronaldo alone, tho Ronaldo is a exceptional player that have had so many experience in every competitions, and he can change the game and bring hope back to a game when you think hope has lost in a game already, just as he did last season in 2nd leg of champions league quarter final against Athletics Madrid but still Juve have got some talented players like Costa, higuain, matuudi, dybala so they have to work together as a team and not rely on Ronaldo alone...

    - Gabriel Bankole - 2019-11-27 14:18:41 Quote

  • Juventus needs ronaldo because his presence is a threat to any team he is playing against, the main reason is that he is a good goal scorer so he is so much needed in the team and with the experiences he has I believe he is the right man for that at least we can see the number of champions league goals he has scored

  • CR7 is a vital player and also a big motivation to any team he plays in.. juventus needs him at all cost Cause of his winning mentality and also consistency in pitch and outside the pitch..know too well that age is also adding n showing lately even in his field of play,so adding him with most of the virbrant and eligible players would be best fore juventus....

  • Sure, juventus needs cristiano ronaldo especially in the aspect of UCL if  not in every aspect. Since  the begining of his time at juventus, he has been proving  himself as a unique and excellent player in terms  of setting record upon records and even breaking records. He only needs perfect team work with his team mates.

  • Well, Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world...but due to his age his physical condition is depleting

Juventus don't really need him because

    1. He slows game down

    2. He is more of a scorer than a team player

    3. He physical condition is depleting

Had it been he secured his transfer when he was around 28years it would have been better

    - Musa Dhul-qarnayn - 2019-11-28 10:56:10 Quote

  • I don't think they have to rely on Ronaldo. They are a big team already.  They just need his extra powers. Sometimes Ronaldo's presence is enough to cause havoc. And he is someone you can always believe will play his part and will do anything to make his team successful.  I think he makes Juventus a complete team . But they do not have to rely on only him.

  • For a club to win a title isn't about depending on the fire power/ability of a single player, football is called a team game cos is played by more than one person. Ronaldo being an all time player doesn't mean everyday is a posulitive day to shine, most times he needs assistance from his team mates but believe in him alone for a title is impossible, that's why they have elven players in a pitch.

  • The only suggestion I can bring into the matter on ground is that,C.Rinaldo is a very good scorer when it comes to aspects of scoring goals, but he is most times helped by his team players. For them to win 2020,they must join hands together to achieve there aims.

    Nothing like, 1 man battalion.

  • Juventus really need Ronaldo,he is an experience player,he has won the champion league 5 times,he is a big figure in the team,he is a winner .if you have a Ronaldo In your team is an advantage to your team against your opponent. So Juventus really needs him.

    - John David - 2019-11-29 12:50:37 Quote

  • Yes Juventus needs Ronaldo for one sole reason which is champions league glory. Over the years, Juventus have played with good will in the championship league but when it comes to to their striking game, they lack. So with Ronaldo I see a lot of improvement in their striking force and I hope they would make use of this strength to make sure the get one or more champions league glory

    - Ogbonnya Daniel - 2019-11-30 07:52:31 Quote

  • Well what I can say is that yes Juventus need cr7, the major reason is that he is still fit, full of courage, he has that leadership instinct. We all see him perform greatly when he was in Madrid that's the reason why the old ladies sign him from Madrid.he motivate the team,he is an icon every team misses in their team.. He will bring the glory of UCL to Italy. He create chances unexpectedly and he is a great threat to all goalkeeper. I think Juventus made the right choice of signing the G.O.A.T

    - Abiodun Adebayo - 2019-12-01 06:57:10 Quote

  • Not really because Juventus is already a distinguished club and has been winning the league several times and reaching a top spot before Cristiano Ronaldo came. Facing Ronaldo's goal drought this season, there isn't really much he can do. The ratings of recent matches show that some of the teammates have being outshining him and having a outstanding performance. It is the truth that Ronaldo recently has not been performing to the best of his ability, probably due to old age or other factors. But there is one thing for sure, Juventus don't need Cristiano Ronaldo.

  • In my opinion I believe Juventus is a very strong club especially in their leagues but there don't really play so well against top teams from other leagues because there lack experience so I will say yes there need c.Ronaldo to help build up the team and give them confidence to win the champion league

    - Nicholas Edo - 2019-12-01 22:04:56 Quote

  • Ronaldo is a tested and trusted champions League winner but unlike his youth days, he does not have the strength to go week in week out like he use to in the past. This is an opportunity for other stars in Turin to step up so Ronaldo can get enough rest so as to be strong and ready for the champions League.

    - Brobbey Abiola Oluwagbeminiyi - 2019-12-02 11:07:49 Quote

  • Relying on Ronaldo wouldn't be a good option since he is out of age and they got young talents like dybala, bentacurer e.t.c rather they should depend on the whole team so that when Ronaldo leaves they wouldn't struggle like real Madrid the time he left and they should also focus on buying young talents rather than the ageing ones

    - Ekene Stanley - 2019-12-02 12:54:10 Quote

  • My thinking on this was that they need him because Ronaldo is an experience player when it comes to the champions he always bring out the best to support his team in winning. His also a vital player and also a big confidence for any team he played with. And word for the players was that they should not put all hope in him on everything.

    - Falowo David - 2019-12-03 09:29:22 Quote

  • Honestly juventus needs him more than ever to secure their first european trophy after some barren years,  i think what they need to do is to find a system that best suit him. He needs to be the focal point of their attacking play and he will score lots of goals that will potentially bring them that trophy.

  • Over the years, juvetus have been good without a "world class",lifting their league title 7 times consecutively. But if they want to get to a better level of success(champions league),they need someone like Ronaldo who has lifted the cup numerously. His skills and experience would thereby be very vital in situations like that.So it all depends on their objectives

  • Juventus has been a very good club over the years. But through these years they've always lacked the presence of a fighter and a champion, in which christiano Ronaldo is in the best position to fill up the space. Juventus still really need this man in their team to fish them trophies.

    - Paul Olorunmaiye - 2019-12-11 10:33:06 Quote

  • It is true that Ronaldo is ageing already. But the experience is still there, no doubt. They need him, he needs them. but they don't have to rely on him alone. They all need to step up there games, he's a goalscorer and he has the goals in the tank. Put him in the right position,  Supply him and he'll deliver on the greatest nights of the competition.

  • Ronaldo is an experienced player, no doubt!. But in the case juventus, I don't think what they need are experienced players because players like Higuain and Chillieni are also experienced. The kind of players Juventus needs are those who are hungry for achievements not players like Ronaldo who have so many achievements to their name.

So, I think that the only way Ronaldo have been helping Juventus is the morale he have been able to create there and the fans he brought upon his arrival there.

Take a look at the Coppa Italia they blew away and signs of Ronaldo not being compatible with Dybala. They might yet go far in Europe no doubt but I can't see them progressing further than the QTFinals of the UCL.
