Do Parents Really Know The Value And Responsibilities Of Parenting?

By - - [ Opinion ]

I've always thought about this while growing up,  most parents don't really have any idea about parenthood. They all believe once they have a child the training will happen naturally but that's a big NO.

To be a responsible parent regardless of your standards of living,  there are things you must consider:

1). Readiness: most parents don't have what it takes to be a parent, some give birth out of wedlock while some ladies get impregnated and they get jilted, leaving them to cater for the child alone.  They end up raising the child with bitterness, frustration, uncaring heart,  and anger. They tend to pure out those feelings on the child.

2). Self belief: every individual have his or her own beliefs (either positive or negative) and they teach it to their children not giving it a second thought what impact that will put on their children.

3). Self morals: not all parents have the proper ethical or righteous values to raise a child.  They don't mind showing of their bad habits right in the presence of their children without thinking about the effects that will bring to the child.

4). Communication: personally i believe this is the most important and less considered value of parenting, parents don't take in consideration how communication with your child(ren) can help build a strong disciplined foundation with your child(ren). Through communication you can know the strengths and weaknesses of any child and help understand their feelings, it can help discipline a child.

5). Discipline: every parent have this mentality that a child can only be disciplined with the rode, that's true but not "only" with the rode.  There are a other ways to discipline your child and they are very effective. A typical African parent will always consider a serious beating when a child do wrong without knowing that a child can adapt to that pain and keep repeating that same thing over again.  Communication should not be the last result, because sometimes it can be too late for that.  Parent should develope a goid communication skills that will impact positive values to the children.

Parent should always take proper measures on how to raise their child.

I agree with you on that because parents nowadays believe on violence in order to make their children listen to them...

Child parenting should be discussed among parents maybe in form of seminar because most parents don't know the advantage of parenting or rather how to parent a child.

Being a parent isn't really an easy thing to do. There are split decisions you'd have to make in the moment that could affect the life of your child negatively and your child might not see it that way. I respect every parent out there. But I strongly believe violence isn't the best way to correct your child

Some parents are good at parenting while some are bad, in other for a child to have a good life he or she must have good home training , but not all will turn out that way cause they're human, some might have had good home training and still prefer to live a wayward life.

I really like this because not every parent today knows nor have what it takes to bring up a child, not just bringing up a child but making them good citizens of the nation that can defend their rights anywhere anytime in a responsible manner.

So I think teenagers should be exposed to parenthood responsibilities so as to help them in future.

Every child is a product of how he or she was brought up,the parent most especially the mother is to take a lots actions in training up a child in a way of the Lord ,even the Bible says trained up a child in a way he will work ,if he grows he shall not depart therein. If the parents fail in this respect ,this is why the society seem corrupting everyday because the parents has not carried out their responsibilities successfully. May the God help them to do the needful.

Most times people only think of keeping their linage alive without knowing how well it should be done. They give birth to few or many children whom they will or will not be able to Carter for properly. Good parenting is seen in your children being responsible at home and society.

This has been a problem which is not really noticeable by people in the society today.

A child will behave according to the way he or she was  brought up.  The characters of the children are gotten from their parents. Therefore, all parents should  be able to impact a standard behaviour  and characters to their children. Their children should  be properly raised up from childhood.
