Downfall Of Educational System In Nigeria

By - - [ Education ]

Nigeria Educational system has totally collapsed . It is a things of shame seen half backed graduates being produced from our institutions today. I remembered when I was in secondary school then, we were thought that there is no short cuts to success but today reverse is the case.

Primary six of those days or standard 6 of those days are better than graduate of today. The genesis of this stated when we introduced private schools in Nigeria and when government took over the missionary schools.

No disciplines any longer in our schools because of civilisation and child abuse. Parents go to schools to fight teachers for discipline their children. Parent goes to schools today to look for short cut to success for their children, even parents go to school to bribe teacher for favouring their children during examination.

Something needs to be done in the aspect of parents and government to correct the expensive mistake before is gone out of hand.

Something needs to be done. Our certificates no longer have value abroad because they believe that oir educational system is corrupt which is. What can be the way forward? How can we restore our lost value?

Our education system is becoming more vulnerable by the day....the grass root (primary and secondary schools) is dying because qualified graduates who can teach are being offered peanuts as salary, money that cannot feed an average adult for a week is what he earns for a month.....academic curriculums in tertiary institutions are most tyms out of point...image a person studying public administration and offering physics and chemistry as a course...lectures are more after student buy materials than caring to know whether they understand the lectures...they will prefer students to bribe their way through than to give them scores they merit...in a system where the government plays with academics and schools go on strike year in year out with no adequate facilities for practical orientation of the theoretical knowledge acquired, what do you expect.

Yes.we need to find solution to this issue...

That's why many Nigerians are travelling abroad to further their education because they know the certificate of their country does nothing. Even, those in the higher position now barely have a result..may God help us

Our education is nothing to write home about, sometimes i sit and think if we had used the money we spent on education to invest we would have succeeded. But here we are roaming the street with certificate searching for jobs that doesn't even exist.

Our educational system! Truely is getting worse, and one way or the other majority of us have contributed to it. Nobody wants to take the blame proper monitoring by parents can checkmate their children and some teachers. We just dump all the work on academic institutions,  with no active crosschecking. Each of us can be active listeners. If observe and listen well enough to our children when they return home we can pin point changes we may like or not like at all. Furthermore correct and report observations. If Government does anything serious; fine. But before that actively secure the bright future of your child and watch what the learn. Thanks!

Though our government has a great role to play, but some parents have also fail, as they think that the money being paid for is too high, so they want to discipline their children themselves, some parents need education too

But here we are roaming the street with certificate searching for jobs that doesn't even exist. At this point, the certificate we waste a lot of money and effort on is not recognized abroad and this is a big disgrace to the Nigerian educational system. Because of the worthlessness of our certificate here the rich send their children abroad to study, what about those that cannot afford to do this?

One reason for the downfall of the educational system in Nigeria is the recruitment of unqualified teachers into the system. Many graduates from the field of education carry certificates around that they cannot defend adequately. These kind of graduates when employed into the system won't have passion for teaching their pupils/students and are only interested in getting their salaries at the end of the month. Government and private owners of schools should ensure proper screening of teaching job applicants before employing them.
