How Do You Remember What You Have Read?

Some people have photographic memories and I count them as the lucky population honestly but for the rest of us, it's another case.

Im the kind of person who pays more attention to what's being taught in class than what I go back home to read. Some people haven't discovered thst part of themselves because they refuse to go to lectures and when they try to read, efforts become futile and failure sets in.

The willingness to do something might actually be the direct key to do it.

- as I said, try attending classes, little details make up a whole picture for you as you remember what the lecturer as said even when youre unconscious.

-stay away from coffee and find your appropriate reading time. Some people bend to peer pressure and tend to want to read at night but it's not always thst way, your best time to read might be st noon, someone like me, I read between five and seven in the morning as that's when my brain is best active.

- also don't be afraid to ask for help from your senior colleague, friends and approachable lecturers who won't take advantage of you.

- remember to balance sleep, food and reading if one is more than the other, the whole system would crash so maintain thst balance diet.

Do your best and make sure you rest!

  • This happen to me when I'm in secondary school, whenever I read especially during the examination period, I'll read and when I got to the exam hall it happen to me that I forgot everything I've read but after the exam I'll now remember when I'm going through the questions after the exam. it give me alot of time to know myself, the right time for me to read, the type of friend to move with after I repeat a class.

  • You know it is needful to be present in classes. our brains have a way of assimilation.  Attending classes are important to me it enables me to remember easily.

Reading the material on time reduces the pressure of learning it during a short time so I prefer not reading under pressure. Also I rest when I am supposed to if it's either to take a walk or even find something to eat because I can't assimilate on an empty stomach.

  • One of the best solutions is to start on time. There's nothing bad in having an idea of what is beaing taught in class, it's so easy nowadays with the help of google,  so start on time and start reading your notes everyday, don't leave them overnight. Don't just read for reading sake, read it like hours are really untreated in knowing what is in the book and make jottings  during your free time instead of just gisting and playing away your time everytime pick one or two minutes and try and meditate on what you've read previously,  sit in front in class and during classes keep your mind active and alert,  ready to ask questions in every class that way your brain is actively involved in the learning process. Don't feel shy to ask questions o,  because they are not the ones that oaidyour school fees fa

  • One thing is certain, practice turns perfect. To have a sense of recall of what was done then you need to prepare yourself against every folds of backwardness. As a teacher, I've always told my products to make it a point of achievement having dedicated their time to reading oftentimes then also pray to God for a retentive memory which is more important.

  • Reading to remember: my personal method;

Reading to remember starts from class, when lecturer is delivering lecture I listen with rapt attention and I picture even the lecturer's demonstration. So when I start to read, it seems like I am revising what I've read before.

  • Reading to me is really interesting. But trying to remember what we have read is difficult, try and do away with all forms of distractions and read it twice or thrice coz the more u see or read a sentence the more you can remember it

  • That's true, to some even if they read from now till tomorrow nothing will enter. They mind and thought are divided. Studies should be given total attention. When reading think of no other things. Whether photographic or dullness, if you give your undivided attention to your studies you can come out the best

  • Well as for me,I have this gift of reading not more than twice if I'm not distracted by anyone or anything from 5:00am to 9:am then I just take a rest and try recalling them even while I'm resting, where ever I make a mistake I quickly go back to the book for correction and after that,it can remain in my head for good two weeks without even going back to the book

  • For me to remember things I have read being taught is simply by given ample time to meditate what I have read or taught and then write it out in my own words on a notebook as I understood it. Immediately I does that then certainly I can remember anything I have read or taught before.

He doesn't read like the rest of us ,even during exam week . He would just come to class and be paying attention , we would copy notes , ask questions I learn everything that the teaching is teaching at the spot  he doesn't bother reading again in the hostel and you know the amazing thing?? He pass all his exams , his result is one of the best . So many people dont know they way there brain works for them , so we should try an attend classes

  • From research I heard/read that we all remember a larger percentage of what we explain to people and what we listen to. Reading is good but in other to remember all you’ve read you need to go a longer mile. Some people easily remember what they’ve read with no stress but we all aren’t gifted that way. What will take someone 30minutes to read and understand fully could take someone else up 2 hours, our brains are gifted in their own various ways. It’s up to us to find the means in which we can access it’s full potential.

And realizing which reading period best suits me. And also keep tabs on activities going on off records in classes.

It all boils down to understanding your own self.

If you understand how your brain works, you'll be able to work accordingly and pass whatever exam placed in front of you.

  • What many call reading is actually a cramming process. They will want to put all info in their head in one sitting, it isn't done like that. Reading is a process. This is what I always do, the first time I'm reading a topic, I only try to get a general knowledge around the topic. I wouldn't bother if I can't remember details. So subsequent reading after the first contact, I will then pay full attention to the details and I will be able to assimilate better cos ivI' already gotten the idea around the topic.

  • The point is even if you're attending lectures every day, if you'll still find it difficult to assimilate one will always find it like that, i think the best way to read is you creat your own time to study on your own, everybody has is own way, is own time of reading, mine I do study very early in d morning around six to eight a.m and I bet you, after reading I can't forget again. Never. I just pray the lord grant us wisdom and knowledge to examine ourselves.
