Popcorn as we all know is a snack we can make on our own and its very simple to prepare.
Groundnut oil or butter
First of all, heat your your oil or your butter slowly, then you add your corn, sugar, and a little salt if u want. Then u start turning or stirring, continue stirring till u start hearing pop sounds. Then u stop and wait for the corn to pop well. Cover your pot tightly so that the corn will not pop out. Once u stop hearing pop sounds, py off the heat and bring out the corn. Allow it t cool a little then you add milk to eat to iimprove the taste.
Then your popcorn is ready.
What do you people say about this snack. Do you have other way you make yours, kindly share with us.
Well I think its a good recipe, but y don't u try adding new ingredients to make ur popcorn better ...Well idk much about making popcorn but I'll say y don't u try experimenting by adding adding flavours, jam,or even changing d colour of ur popcorn to make it luk attractive, to ce which ingredients makes it better
At the thought of popcorn, my mouth waters I want to always eat it especially when it's garnished with lots of milk. It smells nice when you pass through an area where it's being made. My thanks to PSO is unfinished because of approval of posts like this.
How i made my popcorn at home first of all Place your oil in the pan (I use about 2 tablespoons of oil for half a cup of unpopped kernels). Turn the heat up to high, and add 2 kernels of popcorn. Cover the pot and wait for those 2 kernels to pop. Once they pop, remove the pot from the heat, remove the 2 popped kernels, and add the remaining unpopped kernels.
Thanks for sharing this. You just made me remember my first time of making popcorn... It was black cause I was scared to open the pot because of the pop sound. And I already bragged to my friends that I was an expert.. Lol
When I was in the village, we used to make popcorn too. We pour the already peeled corn inside a pot, add salt, and little water. Then stir it together and place it on top of the fire. Continue to stir it while on top of the fire and some of the corn will be porping up. When the color starts to change as if it is getting burned, we drop it down. Our popcorn is ready to be eaten with palm kernel.
Popcorns taste better when they are made with butter rather than just oil. The sweet smell is even enough for you to want to buy. I haven’t made popcorn myself before but I’ll try it someday
The recipe is cool though. I love popcorn and it's one of my most addictive snack. Lol. How can I ever unlove popcorn? Especially when the sugar content is not too much because that's what most sellers do.. Fill the popcorn with less milk and too much sugar. I love mine when it's very milky though.
My dear can I use honey in making my own pop corn and is there any way I can also apply eggs on it, as my friend told me he does his, that way, and he tells me that is the remedy for making pop corn sweet and marketable, by putting honey and eggs, although he sells the one he puts honey and eggs more exensive than the rest
I think this is the fastest method have known so far.
I dont make popcorn at home cause i don't have that popcorn machine.
But with this i think it's popcorn time at home now.
Thanks. This method is very fast and reliable.
Thanks for sharing, I love popcorn especially when milk is added to it, the milk gives it an exceptional taste that one can't resist and the sugar too should not be too much.
Wow!!! this is Nice... And there's nobody that makes popcorn around my area... I'll tell them to come to NNU and learn how to make popcorn because it would be a viable business around here...
Thank you very much for this tips on how to make popcorn. I have been seriously looking forward to it. My grandchildren always ask me for popcorn and now you have made it easy for me.
I don't know how to do popcorn before and I don't know they are doing it but I will try and get everything you wrote here and follow all the steps you lay down here and also give it a trial .this is really
1 Heat the oil: Heat the oil in a 3-quart thick-bottomed saucepan on medium high heat. If you are using coconut oil, allow all of the solid oil to melt.
2 Put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the oil. Wait for the popcorn kernels to pop.
3 When the kernels pop, add the rest of the 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels in an even layer.
4 Cover the pot, remove from heat and count 30 seconds. (Count out loud! It's fun to do with kids.)
This method first heats the oil to the right temperature, then waiting 30 seconds brings all of the other kernels to a near-popping temperature so that when they are put back on the heat, they all pop at about the same time.
5 Return the pan to the heat. The popcorn should begin popping soon, and all at once. Once the popping starts in earnest, gently shake the pan by moving it back and forth over the burner.
Tip: As the popcorn pops, try to keep the lid slightly ajar to let the steam from the popcorn release (the popcorn will be drier and crisper).
6 Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat, remove the lid, and dump the popcorn immediately into a wide bowl.
With this technique, nearly all of the kernels pop, and nothing burns.
7 Melt butter in the empty hot pan: If you are adding butter, you can easily melt it by placing the butter in the now empty, but hot pan.
Tip: if you let the butter get just a little bit brown, it will add an even more intense, buttery flavor to the butter and to your popcorn.
Just drizzle the melted butter over the popcorn and toss to distribute.
8 Sprinkle the popcorn with salt to taste.
I have a friend who produces popcorn, but for me i dislike it I dont really like popcorn cause it gives me cough and sleepless night. To me i feel it too dry for consumption and should be worked on because with the latest appearance of popcorn i dont think i will ever eat it.
This is quite nice but not technically or fully explained because the pot should have a special make in which you can be able to stir while the pot is closed, using other normal pots may spoil your popcorn. There is a specific type of pot with a constructed covering meant for popcorn.
Well thanks for sharing this knowledge with people but I do prefer popcorn with milk is added and color too.. It's spices up everything and make it a more sweetened one .
Thanks for the information, but you would have told us if we can use a special pot for it.
All the same, the new way of making pop corn, the addition of milk, has made eating it more interesting.
Nice job done and cool recipe you've gotten there. Reminds me of the heavenly aroma of popcorn when perceived especially when milk and much sugar is added.... Its mouth watering I tell you.
Nice write up
This is what really need in our country,we all have to think of something good to do and not being a liability to one self, we all have to be innovative
Even if you don't have the Money to buy the pop corn machine you can make use of frying pan. How to use frying pan to make pop corn.make your fire or stove, place your frying pan on the fire or stove, add alittle groundnut and rubbed it round the internal part of the body then pour your corn into the frying pan with groundnut oil it will bloat our immediately.
Nice piece of write up,I haven't made popcorn before but,I have seen my sister make one before, she puts the pot on the fire, then she pour her oil and sugar inside the pot, then she added her corn, wait for minutes, then popcorn was ready
i add the coconut oil and 3 popcorn kernels to a large pot.
2 Cover and cook over medium high heat until all 3 kernel pop
3 Take the three kernels out of the pot
4 Add the rest of the popcorn kernels
5 Cover and take the pot off of the heat
6 Wait 30 minute
7 Put thr pot back on the heat.
This Post made me remember one particular woman in my area when I was a child. She used to make popcorn for all the children then but with salt. Chai I can't forget salty popcorn.
God bless her Soul wherever she. By the way do you know that popcorn is the only food or snack that contains all the nutrients?
One important thing that would give popcorn an amazingly awesome taste is Honey, add it along the butter, and the smell and taste would invite even a dead man lol, just joking, adding flavors would do too
I am really impressed by this. After reading this popcorn would be the most easiest thing for me to do. Thanks for this post, I'm really gaining something from here
This is lovely, thanks for sharing this here. I have immensely grabbed from what was taught here. And more especially thanks to nnu for making it possible to learn new things daily.
I love popcorn so much, its not even compulsory to use machine. U can just get a small pot and use it to to make ur popcorn, its easy and convenient too
Just reading it alone is already making me feel hungry, I can't or should I say I don't have any idea on how to make this popcorn but with the little) e idea I have gotten I think I can give it a try and would love to share it with u guys
I love this post, it actually reminds me of when my mom made us popcorn using this exact same recipe. It was the best popcorn i ate that whole year.
Jesu!!! Oil and salt?
You just opened my eyes. Do u know I never knew oil, butter and salt is used to do popcorn?
And I never knew its this easy and simple and they are selling small thing for person. But u didn't tell us the level of fire needed and the quantity of butter or oil to be used.
I must do it myself. Thanks for this
It is better being there when it is been prepared than just saying the procedures here, for each stage and flavours added at a particular time means a lot that if it is not properly done you may not get that particular taste u may be looking for in that popcorn
Thanks for sharing this process of making popcorn. It really helps. I have been wondering on how I can get this done myself and with this little help am good to go.
Amazing tips for making home made popcorn. Before now I use to think there is a special way for making homemade popcorn. Thanks to NNU post for teaching me how to make popcorn. But I will experiment it first before I can be rest assured that I gave learnt how to make popcorn
Am really craving for popcorn at the moment,i like this method,so simple and brief, popcorn can ne very filling especially when you are watching a nice blockbuster movie
1. 1 Heat the oil: Heat the oil in a 3-quart thick-bottomed saucepan on medium high heat. ...
2. 2 Put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the oil. ...
3. 3 When the kernels pop, add the rest of the 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels in
an even layer.
4. 4 Cover the pot, remove from heat and count 30 seconds.
Premium 'healthy' popcorn brand Propercorn insists that despite the 4.4 per cent decrease in popcorn sales across the board in the past year, sales of so-called 'healthy' popcorn retailers are seeing gains in the double-digits year-on-year. Propercorn reported a growth of 40 per cent as they have become "an established part of people's snacking routines".
Very good recipe you got, but I do mine differently, I mix chocolate flavor with the sugar before stirring it, there are different other flavors like, vanilla, strawberry and the rest.
You could try adding some flavours like vanilla, banana, etc. It would make it unique. I remember when one of my friends tried making popcorn at home, it was very bad. Lol. It was black and tasteless but thanks to this recipe, I'll try it.
That's a nice and easy way of making popcorn. But my question lies on what do you make it in?? I'm aware that when making popcorn, your corn should be stirred so as to even the distribution of the heat. If you just leave it there and cover it, it will surely burn. So what did you make your popcorn in? A pot with a stirrer inside or a frying pan?
I didnt know popcorn could be made without that cooker I see people that sell popcorn use
I will try making it at home now and I hear it tastes better when u use butter instead of oil
Thank you for this, now I’d be able to able to prepare one of my favorite lunch snacks by myself without spending so much money but buying daily. With this I could even start selling it to get more money too. I appreciate this.
I don't know how to prepare it b4 talkless of knowing other ways. This is great. By now I know how to prepare homemade popcorn.
This platform has helped me to add benefit to myself in order to teach people.
Let me go and buy those ingredients to prepare mine.
Wow this is a very interesting writeup, it has given us an insight on how to make popcorn conveniently from the comfort of our home, and it can be used commercially to make little income.
You know the reason I don't eat popcorn is because of my sister. We were given one to share do she finished it all n dey out d blame on me so I got furious n did eat it uptil now maybe my kids will love it. I will try it one day
It's a nice and easy way for those that don't have the machine...trust me when you try this method it will be of good result as same as using the machine
I say thank you for sharing this, I really learnt from it. I love eating popcorn so definitely i would want to know how to make one. With what you have said I will put it in practice.
You have said it all well. But contribution is in the area of turning. The guy that taught how to prepare it use to heat the oil first and pour the corn into it and cover till it bake. Having done that, he will now apply sugar to it at last and turn it together. But I notice that, the sugar use to burn at bottom of the pot.
