How To Add Flavour To Your Beat As A Producer
In today’s post, I will be talking about how you can add flavor to your beat as a producer.
You must understand very well that as a producer, you need to have a basic knowledge of music scales and notes because this is the foundation on which you compose your beat.
In whatever key you are playing, there are certain notes that if you touch them at any point in the song, you will never go off key.
Let me give you an example: let’s assume your song is in key C major, this means that the notes you will be playing on the keyboard are C, D, E, F, G, A, B ( If you don’t understand this as a producer, go and google music theory basics)
Whichever chord progression your beat has at any point in time, you can add flavour to it by hitting the notes C, D, E, G, A. These notes are called the pentatonic scale.
You can use it in which ever key your are making your beat. In any key, the notes are 1, 2, 3, 5, 6. They are just five notes, but I can tell you that the possibilities you have with them are almost endless.
Try it for yourself and see.
