Is There Really An African Philosophy?
Over the years, it's been a major point of argument between African and European philosophers if truly there's anything called an African philosophy. These European philosophers argue that Africans don't have a philosophy because of the problem of documentation, methodology, language and logic, and so on. On the other hand, Africans argue that there is African philosophy since philosophy does not necessarily need documentation before it could be called a philosophy, it involves the general worldview of a people. And besides, Socrates who's the father of Western philosophy never documented his philosophy but was documented by his student Plato.
So what do you think? Is there an African philosophy?
