The continuous attack on foreign nationals in South Africa continues as Cars and other goods worth millions of naira had been burnt down by Angry South Africans.
The president of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Adetola Olubajo stated that Nigerians especially in Johannesburg area are not safe as their businesses are been targeted for looting and destructions.
A car dealer store with several cars, Computer stores are reportedly burnt down into ashes as other damages are been looked out for.
While Nigerian government has condemned this, more proactive steps is required.
What should be done to curb this incessant attacks on Nigerians in South Africa?
I think the south African government needs to be probed and questioned, these attacks on foreign nationals didn't start yesterday or last week, this have been happening for years, yet the south African government keeps mute, they should be summoned, the sa government should call thier citizens to order
I personally think the Nigerian government has not responded keenly and adequately on the attack on its own people since the inception of these crisis days ago, given the contuation of these attacks day by day and yet the People are like a people without government. I think Buhari led administration has failed woefully in the protection and security of lives and properties both of people both in the country and outside of it. its about time the Nigerian government wakes up to put an end to this menace and save the nation this national and global embarrassment.
Whatever action that should be taken now lies in the hands of the leaders, yes in veiw if this xenophobic attacks on Nigeria, since the incident was publicized, no fruitful step has been taken by our leader as regards to putting a stop to this act.
So they are the leaders and I believe they know what best to do.
Nigeria Government should tell the south African government to did a way to stop all this crises, our government can't go there to just bring all of them back home just like that because all their life they've been there even if they come to Nigeria where will they stay or live.
If the crises is noe getting too much I will urge them to call/plead our Government here to bring them back home.
South Africans are too wicked and full of xenophobic behaviour Maybe the Government should just ban our citizens to go thee and if anyone still.chose to go it's at his own risk.
They government is the solution to this problem. They made a move to show south africans we are not pleased with what's going on by pulling out of the South Africa economic summit. But this is not enough, they need to take more steps as quick as possible and I hope they do because this needs to end soon. We are not the enemy. Africa is one
This is so sad seeing my fellow Nigerians being brutally murdered by fellow Africans.... .
The Nigerian government should break all economic and diplomatic ties with south Africa and all Nigerians over there should thrive to come back to their country to avoid further attacks
I hope God protect all Nigerians in south Africa
This attack has been becoming bloody day in day out, a lot if lives and goods worth millions has been burnt down all in the name of xenophobic attack, the government should please do something about it to avoid the incessant lives of Nigerians.
This issue of xenophobia is disheartening how can we be this cruel to our own brothers. I think the government should step in and address this issue with SA, if they want us to leave their country then our people should jejely come back they will know our worth when we are not there.
In cases like this all Hands have to be on deck, to figure out a way to put a stop to this voilence, now we have lost many millions and also the xenophobic attack has claimed so many lives.
Urging the people in power to propose a motion for retaliation will be seen as an effort to incite violence, but if am allowed to air my veiw properly, I will say that charges be posted on the south African government for the damages they caused us, after which if they can't meet up with it then we retaliate.
One thing I believe in is prayer, there is nothing God cannot do. Another thing is our government should not take this situation with levity hand, they should take it seriously to have a positive result.
I think steps should be taken by both Presidents on this matter first of all those involved in this act should be arrested and charged to court and secondly those affected by this xenophobic act should be adequately compensated
African union (AU), should come together in one mind and try to reconcile the differences between Nigeria and South Africa and other African countries that are also affected by this xenophobia stuff
This is tragedic and I don't just mean the loss of millions, I also mean that so many of Nigerian good are destroyed but all the government could do was to condemn it? This is unbelievable, true you should not stop violence with violence but something must be done to cause a change. Things are getting out of hands. I can believe we are fighting one another when we as blacks are supposed to stand as one. We blacks are to look out for each other and stand as one. United we stand, divided we fall.
The Government should do something to remind south African of her place, the sluggish response to this xenophobia has shamed Nigerians under this Administration, remember when 125 Nigerians were deported from South Africa under Goodluck's administration, he quickly responded in kind by deporting 84 southAfricans. And the government of South Africa apologised for their actions. There are lots of ways Buhari can counter this act like nationalising all South African own business in this country and cut all political ties with them.. Because take it or leave it this is outright call for war... If truly we are giant of Africa, let's prove our strength to them
This is why Africans are lagging behind in everything those that wants to help we will still not give them any chance to do so even if we can't do it ourselves it's time we all should gather together our hands to raise the continent
My candid advice is, if it's possible for business owners in South Africa, they should look for a very trusted South African indigen to look after there businesses and come home. Simple!!!
This xenophobia problem is really disheartening because it has made people lose alot due to destruction of properties like shoprites, car shops and alot more. I think the Government should intervene in this case and help for it to stop.
While property worth millions are destroyed in SA and their government is silent back here Nigeria government is using heavy military to protect SA corporations. We need break all diplomatic ties with SA. License of SA corporations in Nigeria should be revoked so they can join in talking peace deal.
I don't think there's any action that could be taken by the Nigerian government this South African citizens tends to let everyone know they are inhumane for all their action against thier brothers. It painse daily to watch the death of my brothers whom went out of the country to hustle and be rich the rightful way. But instead they are getting killed and harmed daily by even the country police force this is such a disaster to happen To us in Africa. Why can't we just be united and love each other.
The xenophobia issue is really getting out of hands....I think the government should make it clear to the citizens of Nigeria that they should stay in Nigeria and run their businesses rather than going to a country that They are not safe in it anymore
My heart bleeds each time I come across this recent xenophobia attack on Nigerians in south Africa. I know our government is doing something but they should do more to end the reoccurrance of such crisis again. African should be strong and spread love among ourselves not killing and destroying, we are one.
Sincerely speaking d south Africans did a bad thing, and it's a welcomed idea that Nigeria government have taken some steps to find some solution to this issue, but I feel Nigerians should not retaliate for what happened, let's keep hoping that the federal government will find a lasting solution to this xenophobic attack on Nigerians by south Africans.it is well
Laws which strictly regulate hate speech and hate crimes are powerful deterrents against xenophobia. Prosecute hate crimes and hate speech. When foreigners are threatened, attacked, or have their businesses ruined, someone needs to be held accountable. Punishing the perpetrators sends a clear message that xenophobia is unacceptable. This is the only way to end xenophobia
RIP to our brothers that lost their life to this sudden attack. Its really a big disgrace to Africa that we can slaughter our kind. Our leaders should speak for us cause they are our mouth piece.
And South Africa should be purnished for this. They deserve A big punishment
Its so disheartening to see people's lifetime investment burnt to ashes, without any refunding done by the south African government. Nigerian government should demand for a refunding of damaged properties and also protection of Nigerians that resides in south Africa.
The xenophobic attack on Nigerians is bad, Nigeria government should do something about it. I was watching a video today, the killing and inhuman ack is too much, to even think it's only to Nigerians.
It's a pity that this is happening in South Africa but the truth is if Nigeria was good enough I see no reason why our people will be in South Africa, the government should send a serious message to the South Africans for them to know that we mean business.
