Oppression: The Best That Consumes Us

The world today is a lot different from the initial peaceful and calm world God envisaged.

The level of oppression in the world ranges from political to educational and in every area of life.

Lecturers in schools give the students hellish moments, making them dread academics and in turn drop out. Some even go the extra mile of commiting suicide.

Politicians promise heaven and Earth in their manifestos, engage in malpractices just to get into power and when they do, the citizens who voted are sent into languish and poverty. The market women's stalls are broken down just to build big malls, the government schools are left with little or no maintenance.

Bosses in public and private enterprises make life very difficult for their employees.  Everything seems to be going in circular motion and it's time to ask..when is it going to stop? How can oppression be curbed in all spheres of life?

  • Oppression is really killing and can definitely lead to Depression. When someone who doesn't have is being oppressed by those who have enough, such fellow can be forced to do the un-needful so as to meet up with standard of the oppressor or to go beyond

  • For real, depression kills out many people.

In this environment we find ourselves this trend is always eating up the activeness and soundness of an individual when one is face with tough situations with landlords, boss, lecturer, politicians issues. And when one tries to absorbs all these such person .at collapse because they most times appear unbearable.

May God help us in the society

  • As for me, this oppression of humans by humans is limitless and I don't think there will be an end due to the greedy nature of humans. The only way is to work legitimately and put your hope in your creator.

  • oppression is a normal part of life in a sense. A lot of things are oppressive even in countries where everything is supposedly working fine. For instance, taxes are oppressive, bosses are oppressive, relationship are oppresive and so on. We just have to find coping mechanisms and keep our heads above the flood of oppresiveness, so we won't get drowned by depression.

  • All these evil and all shouldn't be surprising to you if you're a Christian because even the bible says that the world is full of wickedness.. But on happy because I'm not of the world, so I don't see the wickedness as trouble that leads to loss for me, rather ,itsba stepping Stone for me to greater heights

  • Oppression has done more harm.  In the society this days the rich usually oppress the poor and it leads to depression which is not good. Oppression should be stopped before it causes more harm

  • I really don't think oppression could be curbed out totally. This is because of the time we live in Christians would understand better. It could only be reduced or easier for those who know their God but not curbed totally.

  • Oppression is affecting everyone.

We should all learn to start making difference in our lives to stop this,we are victims of oppression and we are also the oppressors.example:if you go to the market and see a poor woman selling fish,u bargain price till the woman gets little or no gain in the market, but we go to big mall, see the same fish with a price tag higher than what the woman sold to you in the market and you gladly buy it, then making yourself a victim of oppression.

In this sense I think the change should start from us

  • The God factor plays a big role here.If we have the fear of God, oppression will be history but we should start from our home to educate our young ones on being a better person, helping each other. Getting the right upbringing from home sends better people to the society at large

  • Due to the quest for survival of the fittest, oppression have taken the order of the day. people struggles to make ends meet at the detriments of thier colleagues, friends and fellow human being. The Holy Bible make us to understand at the last days these is bound to happen. We are really at the end of the days.

  • I really hate oppression and it is rampant in our society today, we see it in place of work, churches, schools ,name them them...but for me the only solution for that is for the affected to open up first, and surely solution will come

  • To me, perception is everything. Two people look out through a window, one sees the sky and the other sees the mud. What one person sees as oppression/suffering, another may see as an opportunity to grow/change. So I advise we try to change our perspective, instead of focusing on things that are going wrong and feeling depressed, let's rather focus inward and see what to change in ourselves. You'll be amazed that if you start focusing on what is working, you'll begin to notice things to be happy/grateful about. We create our own reality. There's a saying that if you change the way you look at a thing, the thing you look at will change.

  • Oppression can never truly be stopped. We all complain about our leaders wrongful acts but at the end of the day when we the youths will eventually get to the top and instead of trying to decrease the rate of the wrongful acts, we prefer to continue the lineage. The best way to curb oppression is to start our individual selves.

    - Kabiru Sadiq - 2019-10-05 18:46:03 Quote

  • We are oppressed because we let that. There's an adage that says " the weapon of the oppressor lies in the mind of the oppressed " when we are ignorant about our rights and not outspoken, oppression is prevalent. We need to start doing what's in our constitution, that would erase oppression.

    - Allwell Ekpe - 2019-10-05 20:52:21 Quote

  • The best way to curb oppression is empowering, motivating the oppressed. Inferiority complex, low self esteem amongst others are the causes of opression. No one can limit you yes's you limit yourself. Everyone should ride up above defeat and embrace passion, zeal, successful ambition

  • All this things that is happening to Nigeria is our leaders that cost it , when they will be making promise here and there promising heaven and earth when they will inter there they will forget their promises, that's when oppression start to happening so they are the one doing it not poor masses .

Even the unborn baby have been inffected with curruption. How can we stop by showing good example from the head of all ministry head of departments, to the president, senators, governor etc

  • I don’t think this issue of oppression can be stopped. But it can be reduced and controlled by establishing laws that go against oppression, and also making sure offenders face the punishment. Empowering the less privileged will also help.

  • Oppression is always the cause of depression that lead to unwanted action like committing suicide for those that don't have faith to stand depression

Oppresion is enhance with supremacy ability so there is nothing to stop opression all we need to do is to have great determination and don't let opression give rooms for depression to our life but motivation to take step over opression

  • Change Starts From Us!. Before we condemn the bigwigs, let start from ourselves first. Remember the time you decide to flaunt your new shoes in the midst of your friends! Or the time your "rich" boyfriend got you an Iphone 7 and you decided to emphasise on being in the Iphone Gang and you have stepped up. The little things matter. Oppressing one another is a sign of insecurity

  • Oppression can never be the best thing. We the young one always seem to hate the acts of our current leaders but we also involve ourselves in bad things that are indirectly the same with those in authority. We should check ourselves and correct some mistakes.

  • Oppression causes lack of communication whereby an individual with a skill set get scared of talking to strangers who really might have the power to help, oppression causes one to lose his or her partner. It also makes a lot of people lead fake lives.

  • As much as oppression is a bad thing, I don't think it can be curbed. I don't mean to be negative but I'd there were no oppressions, life would have been easy and most things wouldn't be needed, like education and all others. Permit me to say that the presence of oppression started right from when Adam committed sin. My point is there are oppressions all over the world and they just cannot be stopped. All we have to do is to find our way out of it with the help of God.

  • This is something that Nigerians have been battling with from early times. First it was with the colonial masters and now our own elected Nigerian leaders and people in authority are also inflicting the same pain on us.

  • Oppression is really a lot to take it give a some kind of temporary mood swing which produces bad vibe and bad energy around you... Well contention and ability to be in control to things going on around you would be able to reduce the so called oppression to zero....

  • Oppression is bad and silencing lots of people and even killing some self esteems the oppressed can stand up for himself but in a case of have a superior that seems irreplaceable especially in a working environment then it's only by God's grace and intervention for the oppressor to have a change of mind or be changed from his position

    - COURAGE AGBONS - 2019-10-13 18:01:12 Quote

  • Oppression, only the weak poor masses suffers it most. Lack of transparency and honesty has become normal in the country where no good voice is heard or considered appropriate. The worst has swallowed the good. A country that manuever law to achieve selfish ambitions. Only God will help and save us.

  • It's not a good thing. People who have more than the others oppress them. It's not a good thing TBH. Like it makes them get depressed and some later end up commiting suicide. It's only the people in this country that can save us. We all have to change for the good.
