Religious Theories: Pluralism And Exclusivism.

By - - [ Religion ]

Man has been defined as a religious being, mainly because about 84% of the world's population is said to be affiliated with one religion. Moreso, there are over ten thousand(10,000) distinct religions in the world today, which the most popular ones include- Buhddism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism etc. Since there are diversity of religions in the world, many have asked, which religion is superior? Is it just one religion or all religions? Which religion can be truly attributed to the Real God? Or in another form, which religion relate man to the true God if there is one at all?

Various scholars of philosophy, religion etc., have provided some theories towards the diversities of religions. And this is where I intend to educate us today.

These theories are religious exclusive theory, religious pluralistic theory and religious inclusive theory. Taking them one after the other, religious exclusive theory, otherwise known as religious exclusivism is the doctrine that, of all thousands of religions in the world, just one of them is the true religion, the superior and unique one that is truly recognized by God.

The religious Pluralists, just like the name denotes, argues in contrary to the exclusivists, that all religions are true and superior in their respective practices, all religions works toward the same ends, therefore no religion is superior to another but all equally relate man to God.

Religious inclusivism stands in between the former theories and argues that they are both right. All religions are true and superior but one or some of them is superior to the others, but this superiority does not mean that the others are useless. In conclusion, Pluralists believes in the uniqueness of all religions, the exclusivists says other, that only one is unique, true and superior, the inclusivists supports the Teo claims but denies the uselessness of any religion.

So I will end with a question, having educated us on this topic, if at all we learned something, what is our opinion about these theories? Which of them do we support and why?

This is serious and very educative, but others religion mixed their worship with idols, and we all knew that God the Almighty is one ☝The Creator of the universe and He sent His Messengers and the Book, inside the Book He mention only one Religion. Check for your self.

the main reason for man going into one religion or the other is man's quest to worship or give thanks to somebody and also to be able to be rest assured that someone else is guiding them and also to be able to be guided by some rules to make them live a better life but religion can safely be it is faith in God that can save and Christianity is the only religion where the author and the Creator died for his people and not the other way around

This is serious. I'm a Muslim by birth and I support this because in the Holy Quran, Allah said we must die as a Muslim and be fearful of the Judgement day. I believe this to be true because I follow the footsteps of prophet Muhammad S. A. W

Religion religion religion!!!. We all worship who we think is God. So there is no need arguing about which religion is the real one. We all believe differently so we serve who we believe in

Above it all listed here, I support Christianity. Reason base on the fact that it is a type of religion that preaches love, peace and unity whom the author is our Lord Jesus christ. He is the way ,the truth and the life. He is the only that died and resurrected on the third day.

Christianity is the only religion that God sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to come and redeem his people and he came , did many signs ad wonders, making what was written in the time of the old from the creation of the world to manifest, remember that God said that for his words not to manifest, let the world end. and Jesus payed the ultimate price by sacrificing himself on the cross of Calvary to pay the ultimate price for my sins, Jesus said it in the bible that I and my father are one, no one comes to my father without passing through me. before he died he told peter that upon his solid rock he builds his temple, we are Christ like and we are Christians, I believe in my faith which is strongly build Christ, so Christianity is the surest way to know God and his ways.

i don’t think there is no better religion than treating oneself as you treat thy neighbor which is one of the doctrines in all the religions in this world, and I think it’s this religion that is bringing divisions in this country today

This is very educative. I believe everyone should be religion tolerant because the truth is nobody truly knows. We're lost in this world and how can we that are lost claim that we're showing someone else the way ?? Let each hold their own and allow others peace afterall all religions preach peace

I think religion has divided us rather than uniting us as a nation,it has caused so many discrimination amongst citizens. I think we should just learn to love one another then the world will be a better place for you and me.

I believe in religious exclusivisim because to belief in plurality of gods is heading towards confusion and chaos. How do you claim that more than one true God created the universe? Although humans are allowed their various beliefs whether realistic or not and our ways of seeking out God differ. However the fact remains that the act of creation can't be the handwork of a conundrum of gods but one true God.

Religion has really created diversity in nations, rather than unite us together. But the true fact is that there is only one true God and religion...and that’s Christianity. However that’s my opinion and so the other people who practice different religions, also think. So we should just learn to be tolerant of each other’s beliefs.
