The Injurious Effects Of Parasites

A parasite is an organism that depends wholly on another organism  which is the host just for it's survival.

These parasites can either be Ectoparasites as they are found on the host or Endoparasites as they are found within the body and tissues of their host.

The parasites damage their host tissues in so many ways which include the following:

1. Parasites cause intestinal obstructions. An example is the Ascaris Lumbricoidis.

2. Intracellular parasites usually kill their host cells within which they multiply as seen in the destruction of Red Blood Cells by the plasmodium parasites.

3. The parasites cause damage through inflammation as a result of the rupturing of the parasitized cells.

4. Parasites cause irritation when found in large numbers.

5. Parasites cause mechanical pressures especially those that affect the Central Nervous System.

6. Parasites are also capable of causing vascular blockage. An example is Schistosoma.

Therefore we should try at all cost to terminate parasites around and within us in other to avoid these effect on us.

  • Parasites are deleterious in nature. That mode of nutrition (Parasitic mood of nutrition) isn't healthy for the host as the parasite derives nutrients and cause harm to its host.

Each parasite has its own effect on its host and trust me,  all parasite are deleterious and make the host to suffer an ordeal of illness or disease.

  • Anaphylactic shock may be induced by the sudden release of large amounts of parasite internal antigens into the bloodstream.

    • In malaria this occurs when the merozoites are released in waves from infected erythrocytes.
    • In African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness this occurs when the immune response leads to the massive killing and lysis of the circulating parasites.
    • Also drug treatment leading to a massive killing of the parasites may result in anaphylactic shock.

  • Parasites are very nasty and are responsible for most of the common infections. Parasites not only deprive their host of nutrients but in the process cause great harm to the host and can even transfer infections to the host. In the long run they can cause serious damage to tissues and organs in the body of the host.

  • I can go with this. Let's not also forget one of the major parasites some humans have in their system today, TAENIA SOLIUM  (Tape worm) it lives in the digestive tract of humans. It absorbs some of the food we eat thus little or no food digests. Taenia enters the body through eating meat like pork or beef that is not properly cooked.

  • Yea, parasites are disastrous in nature, and mostly gain access into the body by the food we eat, the water we drink. We should be conscious about what we take into the body. Food to be consumed, should be properly washed and cooked well and also to water, not all water are good for consumption.
