These Things Might Be Destroying Your Eyes

The eye is one of the most important organ in our system and it serves as a means of linking ourselves with our environment. The eye is a sensitive one that must be taken care with caution. These are the things you are doing now that is destroying your eyes

1. Reading under dim light: When the eyes is in the dark it dilates and when you read under dim light, it stretches and stress the muscles of the eye and these is one of the causes of eye defects like short sightedness.

2. Longer Screen Time:  Mobile phone has it adverse effect on the eyes. When you spend much time looking at your screen it affects the eyes negativly. Blue lights from the screen causes unsleepiness that's why Blue light filters are now in cooperated in mobile phones functions. 

3. The use of unrecommended Lenses: Lens that are not recommended by an optician should not be worn. They are quick changing the way your eyes sees thing or in most cases reduces the ability for the eye to focus on things.

I might be wrong as individual have a different experience with the above observation. Kindly share with us, your experience and your thought.

  • Yes you're right watching TV for a long period of time can cause problem to the human eye and for the people that work with fire instrument such as welder should be using safety Google in other to protect there eye

  • Yeah you are right these things ruin the eyes in the long run. Also not getting enough sleep, rubbing your eyes, misusing eye makeup, watching tv at night, not eating balanced diet, and overusing eye drops are also habits that causes damage to the human eye.

  • Thanks for this your little write up because one affects me most ,which is looking at my phone, I think I should be using protective Google on phones and laptops ,I don't like to read with dim lights too that most dangerous, and the earlier we protect our eyes the better for us ,blindness is worst sickness that can happen to a young man

  • Actually, you're right about this addition to this, staying under a scorching sun can damage the eyesight because of excess ultraviolet rays entering the eye.

    Also staying around where chemicals are produced, without wearing safety materials damages the eyesight.

    Thats why i have tried my best to always read with my ohone torch bevayse it doesnt get dim even when the battery is depleting 

    Amd to always reduce the brightness of my phkne to minomaktas long as I can see what I'm doing

    And I do not use glasses so I don't know what they face

  • This is a very educating post. They eyes need cares but unfortunately 85% of Nigerians don't have this knowledge. Care of the eyes have a lot to do with avoiding the above causes...but here are others that were not deliberately left out:

    1. Allowing smokes into the eyes by any means

  • I have one day seen a guy that was not up to 20years old with an eye defect, I ask why? How comes? I wa told that the guy try to use a glass that was medicated, he was told that is not good for him, as it can harm his eye, but he said he can use it. 

    When he started putting on the glasses, he experience some itching in his eye but as if he was compel to wear it he continued.
