The University if Lagos is set to unveil a Zero-Emission Car manufactured by a research team in the institution.
A zero-emissions vehicle, or ZEV, is a vehicle that emits no exhaust gas from the onboard source of power. Exhaust gas contains harmful pollutants to the health and the environment such as particulates (soot), hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, ozone, lead, and various oxides of nitrogen.
Prof. Dixon Akinleye, Chairman, Sub Committee (Abstract), made the revelation at a news conference in Lagos to announce the institution’s 14th Research Conference and Fair.
The zero-emission car is one of the products of research grants of about N5 billion that the university has attracted in the last one year.
Prof. Samson Adeosun, the Lead Scientist, led a group of students from the Faculty of Engineering to achieve this feat.
What can you say about this new Research Development?
This what faculties of engineering in our institutions are ment to be doing.
They are not trained on practical basis which contributed to high rate of unemployment in the country.
Wow! This is a fantastic initiative from Unilag, I pray when they finally launch the car, the government will utilise it and make it available and affordable to the public in order to promote development in the transportation sector of the country
It a great improvement in nigeria, producing of cars in nigeria is slim i thing the government should support.
Nigerians are making us proud around the whole world.... God bless nigeria
Splendid, what a great improvement, this is great news and the government should pls sponsor that team for more improvements and make the world know of it.
This is a very good innovative. I believe the federal government should try to assist most of these universities, because there are a lot of smart lecturers and students alike who can produce magnificent structures which can in turn boost the economy of the country.
Its a good idea but we Nigerians don't promote and value our product.
There are many other people who are inventive or innovative, but no one to sponsor them. I wish the government could assist.
It's a plus to the university and the country at large, I think the country should spend its money on reasonable researches like this and not to shared or loot by our politicians.
It is a great feat indeed. Kudos to them. Many great inventions can come out of Nigeria if we have the right environment.
Finally, we are putting our knowledge to work. This is a great one from UNILAG. This is what we expect from our engineering students in all institutions. Can bet this is just the beginning. Good one.
It's a very good development and if used officially then it will go a long way in reducing pollution in nigeria. After seeing it today I doubt the Nigerian government will say anything about which will make very easy to be forgotten
It a good development that deserve accolades. If other universities in Nigeria can emulate this step, I think they will have long way to go above there counterpart in Africa and the world at large
I think this serves as a kind of challenge to other engineering students in other institutions.I love this achievement of theirs which gives us the hope of developing our country with the good products of our instutions. At least,if the government supports them,it gives them these ethusiastic desire to achieve greater things just like the developed countries.
Wow I love this at least our govt shulld support this project, it's a good development which will benefit Nigeria in the future and increse the economy of Nigeria.. pray the car will be lunched sooner
Nice technology advance
Nice but I don't think that will be possible because there is no way the total power put into the engine will be equal to the power given out by the engine, there must be a power loss
This is a great idea and a good development that's what's expected from our institutions kudos to unilag.
That good to hear, the government should support so as to let this development spread to other states.
I salute the effort of these hardworking people in the university of Lagos... It's I time we produced good things
This what faculties of engineering in our institutions are ment to be doing. it is a good idea but we Nigerians don't promote and value our product.
This is a plus plus to the university and the country as a whole, technologically, Nigeria is gradually gaining ground
Am proudly to be a Nigerian, that's a good news
That's a good innovation.
I love this, it is a good improvement to our country
I pray government will submit totayto this new development, at least 90% or Nigerians are tallented and skillful I hope government will show some interest in thrm
I can't wait to see this development in action. Kudos to these guys
This is a very good project made by an innovative mind
Wow that is nice ooo, I think that project is approved
Nice project.....I hope Nigerians would promote this new invention
Wow congratulations to them, we have graduates and students that are good inventors
Very good idea. It shows that our graduates were educated broadly and this can help in reducing unemployment.
This is a very good innovative. I believe the federal government should try to assist most of these universities, because there are a lot of smart lecturers and students alike who can produce magnificent structures which can in turn boost the economy of the country.
A very beautiful development on the educational and technology sectors of Nigeria. Government funding can help this reserach go a long way. When individuals go to school for the right reasons, this is the product.
A very great and welcome idea, but can government of Nigeria think of anything that can be of use to our unborn generation aside the issue of crude oil of a thing even as youths of today are jobless.
Thumbs up for them, but where are the science supporters in Nigeria? Please technology should be supported and not nudity.
This is an improvement in Nigeria's technology
At least it shows our today's education is going somewhere

Wow, this is a good and great development. Other universities should be challenged and do something that will bring development to the country and the world at large
Let's hope that we won't kick it to the cub and say it is useless and try to work and promote our country let take this as a first sign
This is what is meant to be taught in all universities and polytechnics. There should always be practical.
Wow, what a great idea, this should be done nationwide in the whole Nigerian universities.
University of Lagos is trying in terms of practical aspect and which is the core value of engendering every where
This is one of the rare great innovative new technological advancement that Nigeria needs. I'm happy and proud to hear this. God bless the brains behind it
UNILAG is one school i envy because of their high standards unlike other schools where unseriousness is triving among lectures and students
Wow it's a welcome development and good one from university of Lagos, with right funding and encouragement Nigeria universities will compete with the best in the world.
This is great, welldone guys. This would really bring about so much progress in dealing with global warming if the mechanism could be incopotated into all generators, motorcycles, and virtually everything that makes use of an exhaust valve that emits substances such as Carbon monoxide, soot and any other that contributes to global warming.
The new innovation, which is the ZEV is a welcomed development worthy of showcasing in Nigeria, special congratulations to the lecturers and students alike.
I think all other Universities should follow suit.
This is a great news and a plus the country Nigeria, this is what education should emit you go school to look for solutions to an existing problem in your society and not looking for who to employ you
study because you want to solve at least 10% of the unemployment rate in Nigeria not to be employed..nice one
That's really wow! A great innovation , this will really say something good about the institution and Nigeria as a whole , I hope Nigeria institution bring more research and make Nigeria universities reliable for study , and government should invest more in the educational section for more growth
Its so true reading always is not good. The brain needs rest to refresh. I think having a good plan for studies is better than reading always. The brain needs rest , so you need to sleep and refresh.
This is a great news and a plus the country Nigeria, this is what education should emit you go school to look for solutions to an existing problem in your society and not looking for who to employ you
