What Are The Possible Ways To Cope The Menace Of Cultism In Our Societies?
The origin of cultism in Nigeria is dated back to 1952, since the inception many ugly incidents have creeped into our communities due to their activities which contravenes the norms or rules of any given institution. They mostly meet at night in dilapidated buildings or secluded places, their activities involves frequent violent clashes, vandalization, armed robbery, sexual assault, intimidation, constant abuse of drugs, thuggery during election etc.
Numerous factors leads young people into cultism e.g poor parental care, peers influence, low self esteem etc, a handful of people especially the youths have lost their lives to cultism, thousands are imprisoned and a good number have been expelled from schools. The heart of the matter is a handful of the cultists are sponsored by our top government officials (politicians) and our security men are on the compromising side that a cultists will brag of not been lock up behind bars. How can we put an end to deadly enemy?
Let's hear your voice.

I believe a child of a responsible parent wouldn't think of belonging to a secret cult. The parents are being tasked to bringing up a child in the right way, if a parent succeeds we have one less cultist in the society.

There is no ending cultism anywhere. It is not born out of factors like ignorance or poverty. Cultism is based majorly on youthful exorberance, and this is an innate thing.

Cultism is a social vice, hence making the youths find apathy in it, the society should make rooms for other social engagements that will not involve violence in any way and one could earn from. A very good example is NNUforum. Mr. Paul Samson and Team should always be awarded.

The parents play a very important roles here, because all this starts from the family, the bible says train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Most parents always neglect their responsibilities and thus there is no one to check on the activities of the children.

Inasmuch as we have cultists presently I don’t think we can eradicate them totally, we can only reduce them drastically, basically by public enlightenment and sanctioning of those caught in the act, so it would serve as lessons to others who have the intentions or interests in joining. Furthermore parents have a very important role to play in a child’s life and also to advise them against the effects of cultism in order to curb them finally.

Cultists in our society is now what some people will be using as an example of big guys in town. What i think it could cause that is lack of home training, parental controls, lack of religious. And our politicians are giving them support because they are using them for thuggery purpose when it's time to use them. Only God can save us in this society.

Believe engaging the youths in useful societal clubs such as the NGOs' will aid in curbing cultism in the society.
Strict laws should be placed on those found in cult and offenders should not be forgiven based on sentiments.
Also Parents/Guardians should pay close attention to their children's behavior, friends and bring them up in a way to know the consequence of their actions.

I think we need to flush out certain toxic people from our political system. Some of these cultist believes that they are higher than the authorities because they have sponsors.
Also, sensitisation and job creation will go a long way....... As it is said, an idol man is the devil's workshop, only someone who is idol and without future will have time for cult activities.

There are a lot of reasons why people join cult groups, most are, lowself esteem, bullying, peer pressure, trying to fit in,accident, joining freely. If we can focus on training the kids growing up about the negative effects of cultism and teach them to focus on their self and try not to do what others are doing,it'll limit the number of the next generation cultists.
