AV brand RØDE has announced the launch of the RØDECaster Video S, the latest addition to the company’s range of all-in-one video and audio production consoles. Based on RØDE’s flagship RØDECaster Video product, this new and streamlined model features the same processing power and broadcast-quality performance of its larger sibling in a compact and more affordable package.

The new RØDECaster Video S offers video switching, recording and streaming functions with a pro-grade audio mixer. Thanks to its smaller footprint, the device can fit easily into cramped desktops and does away with the complexity of traditional video consoles without compromising on performance.

By consolidating all the elements of video and audio production into a single, easy-to-use console, the RØDECaster Video S is aimed at content creators who want to streamline their production process and create professional-quality content.

Powered by the same octa-core processor as the RØDECaster Video, the new RØDECaster Video S features three HDMI inputs, plus a configurable HDMI output, making it easy to connect and switch between multiple cameras or other external devices. A flexible USB-C input adds more flexibility, allowing creators to integrate additional video or audio sources.

On the audio side, the RØDECaster Video S has two Neutrik combo inputs with RØDE’s ultra-low-noise Revolution Preamps. There are also dual built-in Series IV wireless receivers, and Bluetooth connectivity for wireless inputs from XLR or USB microphones, wireless systems or remote online guests. Each of the nine stereo audio channels is powered by APHEX processing, including compressors, noise-gates, de-essers and the Aural Exciter, Big Bottom and Compellor processors.

Streamlined Workflow With Intuitive Control

At the core of the RØDECaster Video S is a scene-based workflow for hands-on control over all the aspects of a video production. There are four dedicated video source buttons, five scene buttons and four assignable function keys for easy triggering of video feeds and switch layouts. The keys can also be set up to play media or apply chroma keying with a single press.

A high-resolution two-inch touchscreen on the RØDECaster Video S and a rotary encoder that provides precise control over transitions, settings and levels. For solo operators, the RØDECaster Video S also includes intelligent auto-switching. This is an advanced system that automatically switches camera angles based on who’s speaking, delivering hands-free video control.

RØDE has also included an innovative Inspect feature that lets users preview and configure any input or scene instantly and safely, for seamless transitions and consistent quality while reducing the real risk of broadcasting errors. Combined with the unit’s Multiview display, the RØDECaster Video S offers total oversight of a production because every source is visible and immediately accessible.

Elevating The Production

Whether the user is live streaming or recording for post-production, the RØDECaster Video S is designed to slot into any creative setup. Creators can stream directly to YouTube, Twitch and other platforms using Wi-Fi, Ethernet or USB. Alternatively, they can record straight to an external USB drive or SSD, with the option to capture every video and audio source for even more flexibility in post-production.

Using the RØDE Capture app, creators can also turn their iPhone into an instant high-quality wireless camera, using both the front and rear cameras at the same time for true dual-cam streaming. This means one iPhone can be used to capture multiple angles at once, which is useful for interviews, podcasts or solo content where reaction and perspective are important. Combined with full wireless control using the RØDECaster App, the RØDECaster Video S lets content creators build, monitor and manage the production from any position in the studio.
