The new ‘Samurai Troopers’ anime is already looking very impressive.

The upcoming Samurai Troopers sequel anime is finally showing more of its combat animation, and it looks excellent.
The original Samurai Troopers was released internationally as Ronin Warriors, and saw success both in Japan and abroad.
This new series follows on from that lineage but does so by also taking into account modern series like Demon Slayer, especially regarding its animation style.
Released in January, this new series sees the return of the big villain Arago from the original show. Set in Shinjuku, it pits five boys in their Yoroi Gear samurai-esque mecha armor to save humanity.
As I explained in my Blu-ray review of the original series, the Yoroi Gear effectively acts like magically infused power armor, and was treated much like how mecha works in anime.
This should be no surprise considering that the series was supervised by writer and director Ryosuke Takahashi. Who had already made a name for himself with successful mecha anime such as Armored Trooper VOTOMS, Panzer World Galient, and Blue Comet SPT Layzner.
Of those three shows, the pseudo-fantasy leanings of Galient has the most crossover when it comes to Samurai Troopers, not least because that too featured lovely character designs by Norio Shioyama.
The important thing here is that this new Samurai Troopers anime clearly builds on the already excellent foundation of the original series, and the latest trailer (shown below) displays just how lovely the new combat animation is.
This new Samurai Troopers anime series will be released in January 2026.
