The new SopundPeats Air5 Pro+ have a dual-driver design with xMEMS miniature speakers on a chip, plus 10mm dynamic drivers for the mid and low end frequencies.
SOUNDPEATS
Earbud brand SoundPeats has been working overtime lately. Earlier this month, I reported on the launch of SoundPeats Clip1 open earbuds, now the brand has announced new flagship wireless earbuds in the form of the Air5 Pro+. SoundPeats may not be the first name that springs to mind when thinking about earbuds, but the company is punching well above its weight right now with some innovative new designs.
These SoundPeats Air5 Pr+ are wireless earbuds with a combination of xMEMS and dynamic hybrid drivers. They also have Adaptive noise canceling powered by AI which cuts out unwanted background noise by up to 55dB. The Air5 Pro+ earbuds also support all the major high-resolution Bluetooth audio codecs for a wireless sound that can rival earphones with wired connections.
Immersive Sound
These new earbuds use advanced MEMS drivers for the treble and dynamic hybrid drivers for the mids and bass. xMEMs drivers are tiny speakers built onto a microchip to produce clear high frequencies. These new Air5 Pro+ builds on the success of SoundPeats’ Capsule3 Pro+ earbuds, which were released in August 2024. The result is an accomplished deep sound topped off with a very smooth treble.
The SoundPeats Air5 Pro+ earbuds can play for up to 6 hours on a single charge and there is a reserve charge of up to 30 hours in the charging case.
SOUNDPEATS
SoundPeats has refined its hybrid driver technology to produce a sound with even higher audio fidelity. At the core of the earbuds is the new xMEMS “Cowell” driver, which is powered by a custom-designed XAA-2000 Aptos Class-H amplifier. This arrangement can deliver ultra-precise and low-distortion sound.
For the low-end frequencies, the Air5 Pro+ earbuds have 10mm dynamic drivers with a dual copper coil and PU+PEEK composite diaphragm. The result, says SoundPeats, is a deep bass with clarity. I’ve listened to the Air5 Pro+ and can confirm that.
Qualcomm-Powered Audio
The Air5 Pro+ are powered by Qualcomm’s QCC3091 SoC, which supports the S3 Sound Platform. This system can handle all the popular high-resolution codecs, including aptX Adaptive for high-resolution streaming up to 96kHz/24-bit, aptX Lossless for true CD-quality with 44.1kHz/16-bit playback, LDAC for a rich, detailed sound, plus the next-generation LC3 codec, which has low-latency sound and high efficiency.
The AI Adaptive ANC used in the SoundPeats Air5 Pro+ reduce unwanted noise by up to 55dB.
SOUNDPEATS
To cut out unwanted sounds when commuting or working out at the gym, the Air5 Pro+ earbuds use feedforward and feedback hybrid ANC. This type of active noise canceling monitors how the earbuds are being worn and adjusts the noise reduction accordingly.
The system automatically adjusts the level of noise cancellation needed by up to 55dB. SoundPeats says its advanced sensors can achieve 95% environmental noise-detection accuracy with less than 3% attenuation error. The result is a quiet and immersive listening experience even in noisy environments.
The Air5 Pro+ earbuds can play for up to 2 hours after just a 10-minute charge. A full charge of the earbuds delivers around 6 hours of continuous playback, plus there’s up to 30 hours of reserve power from the batteries in the charging case.
Each earbud is fitted with advanced MEMS drivers and dynamic hybrid drivers. The new Air5 Pro+ builds on the success of SoundPeats’ Capsule3 Pro+ earbuds, which were released in August 2024.

Multi-Device Connectivity
Lots of earbuds these days offer Bluetooth Multipoint support, and the Air5 Pro+ earbuds are no exception. This means the earbuds can be connected to, say, a laptop and smartphones at the same time. The earbuds will automatically prioritize the active audio source, so the user can switch between a video call on the laptop and music on the phone without interruption.
The PeatsAudio smartphone app can control the SmartPeats Air5 Pro+ and it’s available for both iOS and Android devices. The app can be used to customize the sound using adaptive EQ, which measures the wearer’s hearing and adjusts the tone automatically. There’s also a 10-band custom EQ, LDAC toggle, touch-control assignment, plus selectable voice guide languages. Firmware updates can also be applied using the app, so the earbuds are always up to date.
