The First ‘Battlefield 6’ Trailer Is Blowing Everyone Away, Release Date Leaks

Battlefield 6 is a huge question mark this fall in terms of both when it releases, how it will perform after time away, and if it’s going to be as good as it looks. And it looks good, based on this just-released first trailer.

The two-minute spots details the campaign which yes, the game is launching with, as that’s not a sure thing these days. The result may be one of the most technically impressive, photoreal “modern warfare” spots I’ve ever seen. What we’re seeing here just does not seem remotely possible on the engines Call of Duty is running these days.

It’s very flashy, but DICE knows that people are going to want actual gameplay, which is why the end of the trailer does not feature a release date for the game, but rather a release date for a new livestream about the multiplayer component of Battlefield 6 on July 31, a week from today. There are rumors and apparent leaks that it will be out in October, which would make sense. Its rival, Blacks Ops 7, still does not have a release date either, and the two appear to be dancing around each other to some extent.

(UPDATE: According to a new listing on EA’s own site, it’s been confirmed that pre-order content offerings expire for purchase on October 10, 2025, which would be its release date. So there we go)

There is, of course, skepticism about Battlefield 6. It was also the case that early previews of Battlefield 2042 impressed a ton of fans, but the end result of that was…lacking. In terms of performance, there’s a report going around that EA wants the game to grab 100 million players, which includes its upcoming free-to-play components, but that circulated (not confirmed) number was widely mocked around the industry as entirely unrealistic.

As for this trailer and this campaign, here’s what DICE gave us for a synopsis:

“Witness the vicious path of destruction carved by Pax Armata, the world’s leading private military company. PAX pursues the destruction of NATO and its allies, stopping at nothing to uphold their motto: “Our Protection, Your Peace.”

“Lock & load for the ultimate all-out warfare experience. Fight in high-intensity infantry combat. Rip through the skies in aerial dogfights. Demolish your environment for a strategic advantage. In a war of tanks, fighter jets, and massive combat arsenals, your squad is the deadliest weapon. This is Battlefield 6.”

It does seem more likely than not that Battlefield 6 will be a hit, though with the trajectory of the series swinging back and forth in terms of quality, that may not necessarily be the safest prediction. We’ll find out this October. Maybe. Probably. (Update: Definitely)
