Wondering what a perch for a family photo might be? Not sure what “You’ve gotta be kidding me!” may be referring to? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with extra hints and the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.

The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.

Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

It took me 0:53 to complete today’s NYT Mini. Not a terrible time today.

CAROL was the only word I got on my first pass of the Across clues. I really should have known AGAVE as that’s a commonly used clue in this puzzle (at least from my experience). RUSES is a really good word. I thought it might have been “scams.” YEESH, however, is one of those annoying filler words that crossword constructors seem to rely on as a crutch.

Anyway, I got all of the Down answers with no problem at all. If those had been the Across clues, I might have had a personal best time.
