It’s a day for dads, though the Mini Crossword really doesn’t reflect that in any meaningful way. I guess that’s your first clue: Don’t expect Father’s Day-themed words in today’s puzzle. In any case, it’s not quite Sunday yet and I’m sure you have lots of prep to do for your own family fun, so I’ll be brief. Let’s solve this Mini Crossword!
The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

Today’s Mini
This was an easier crossword than yesterday, but 5-Across and 6-Down were tricky since the clues were sparse. I also must admit that AGITA is not a word I’m particularly familiar with. Agitate, sure, but AGITA? Fortunately, other words helped me fill in the blanks. Where I fumbled in the end was 1-Down, where I input SPAM instead of SCAM, but I sorted that out. PRUSH is obviously not a word for “hopelessly infatuated” after all. This one took me a whopping 2:05.
