ForbesToday’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Monday, July 7th

July is well underway now that we’re officially on Day 8 of the midsummer month. It’s monsoon season here in the high desert mountains, and we’ve been getting some lovely rain, though we could certainly use more.

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.

Okay, onto the answers! Remember, spoilers ahead!

6A. Get married in a hurryELOPE

7A. The world’s all-time best-selling bookBIBLE

8A. Doughnut’s shape, mathematicallyTORUS

9A. Secret collectionSTASH

Down

1D. “A Lannister always pays his ___”DEBTS

2D. Poet T.S. ___ELIOT

3D. Hisser with a hoodCOBRA

4D. Best-possible test gradeA PLUS

5D. “Oof, that makes me cringe!”YIKES

Let me know when you’re ready for the next one!

I got this one fast, skipping right past 1-Across and plugging in ELOPE into 6-Across and then BIBLE for 7-Across. I wasn’t sure what the mathematic shape of a doughnut was, so I skipped to 9-Across and entered STASH. I wasn’t sure if these were right, but as soon as I started going down I knew I was on the right track. A Lannister, as we all know, always pays his or her DEBTS. The poet is T.S. Eliot. A hooded snake is a COBRA and the best grade is APLUS. At this point, DECAY was obvious and I wrapped up TORUS and YEESH at the same time with a final ‘S’. Today’s Mini took me 44 seconds.

How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
