The Uefa Super Cup was hosted by Monaco from 1998 until 2012, but has been played in 13 different locations since.

The venue is now decided by individual football associations bidding to host major Uefa matches, before the executive committee makes the final selection.

Uefa states that all member associations can bid to host finals, but bids can’t be made by FA’s that are suspended, excluded or dissolved, or have an affiliated club and/or national team suspended from participating in Uefa competitions.

In the initiating phase, Uefa invites members to declare their interest to host a final. A list of interested members is then reviewed.

If successful, bid requirements are then made available for associations, who can submit their bid dossier to Uefa by a specific deadline.

Once the dossier is examined and the proposed stadiums are visited by Uefa, they have to provide detailed information regarding requirements and format of the site.

Successful bidders then present their dossier to Uefa’s executive committee who select their host of choice.
